TIRE SIZE HELP: Going to 19"s

OK, my E350 is getting lowered this weekend and I want to add tires and wheels next month. I found a set of 19" wheels that I like. The fronts are 19x8.5 and the rears are 19x9.5. I also found a deal on 245/35/19 Yokohamas. How will the same size tires look front and back on the two different width rims.

Thanks for the help!

I got 235/35/19 and 285/30/19....I was going to put 275 in the rear but got a better deal on 285 pirelli's....people say 285 looks too drastic on w211, but it looks bad *** from the rear and sits flush with the car

You can easily get 245/35/19 for front and 275/30/19 for rear..

Here is the link to see the difference and look :

My car has the 18" package on it. Are they staggered? If so, what widths? Right now the tire sizes are F 245/40/18 R 265/35/18.

If it's the sport package and they are staggered they will be front @ 18x8.5 and the rears @ 18x9.5

It has the Sport Package, so that must be the size. Good info, thanks!

I know this is off topic but will 19x9.5 rims with 25 offset fit in the front on 211?

Good question. The ones I want have 30mm offset. I'm hoping they'll work.

It will fit, but the tire size should not be more than 255/35/19.

25 offset on a 9.5 rim seems pretty aggressive. you may have to run a stretch tire to get that to fit and roll/pull your fenders possibly.

basically he is saying it may touch your fenders. agressive as in may be too far to the outside of the car.

Sorry, the term aggressive means lower offsets (the lower the number, the closer your rim sits to the fender). If your offset is too low for the car, your rim may extend out past the fender. The 9.5 rim +25 may work, but you may need to run a stretch tire (e.g. 225). Stretching a tire is basically running a tire that's smaller than the recommended tire width for the rim, so that the sidewall is not square, but "stretched" and thus more rounded so that the tire doesn't hit the fender when you turn, etc. The normal width tire on a 9.5 rim is 245 or 255. On a W211, most people run a 245 front with regular, non-stretched set-ups.

I will be running a mild stretch setup on my new rims in order to get a more aggressive setup. my new rims will be 10.5" rears with 255 or 265 tires. Normal width on a 10.5 is a 285 or 295. My fronts will be 9" wide with a 235 tire. Normal is 245.

Hey Tbone, I see you're in the Bay Area too. Are there any "meets" for modded MBZ owners? I do hot rod car shows for a living and know about all of them, but I' like to hang out with some euro guys to swap ideas. Thanks!

Ty tbone. Very useful info. So you would recommend a 225 for a 9.5 front?

It looks like I'm going with a staggered setup with the same size tire all around. Front= 19x8.5 with 254/35/19 Rear=19x9.5 with 245/35/19

I'm a cheapskate and the Yokohama AVS ES100s on sale only come in one 19" size. Check them out on Tirerack.com. They're only $89 each!!! If I hate them I can always change them down the road.

If you are set on this rim, that *may* be the only way to fit it. Don't forget you'll need fender work (rolling fenders and possibly pulling fenders). My suggestion is to mount the rim, and see how flush (or if it extends out past the fender). That will help you determine what size tire you can run. Also keep in mind that some tires are more round than others (stick with Toyo's for a rounder sidewall). This will lessen chances of rubbing, too.

Also, make sure you are OK with a stretched look. it's not for everyone. Here's a thread with different variations of stretch, from mild stretch to extreme.

http://g35driver.com/forums/picture-...em-up-486.html

A good pic of a stretched tire is in post #7284, picture #8. I would say that's a mild stretch

OK, another question. Would I be able to go with the 19x9.5s all around? Would they work on the front? The offset is 32mm.

If not the 9.5s, how about all 8.5s with 30mm offset??

All four tires are 245/35/19

Thanks!
