Keyless-go problem

The sensor on the drivers door of my 05 E500 isn't working properly anymore. I have to grab the rear handle with the key on me to open the doors to the whole car now. Is there a switch in the door handle itself that fails? Is it a DIY kind of issue?

There's an antenna in the door and a switch behind the handle that you are squeezing when you open the door. You'd be guessing at what was bad if you attempt this yourself.

The drivers door handle itself is the problem. Many have reported this problem, myself included.

That is correct, 99.9% of the time the door handles fail. Takes 5 min. to replace with a long handle T20 driver.

Sorry, no. It was covered under warranty for me. Since it is such a common problem you might be able to get the dealer to work with you if you are out of warranty....
