My CDI now has a message on the dashboard that it needs topping up with a quart of oil. Is this common/normal with the CDI's? I've had this happen once before when the car had around 10K on it. Now it has about 19K.

The dealer had simply just topped it off without telling why it would be needed.

Use of one quart of oil in 9k or 10K miles is nothing to be worried about, especially with a car with so few miles. I would drive it and see if it doesn't use less as you get more miles and the engine breaks in.
