It doesn't look cheap on cars that were designed with it from the get-go, i.e proportioned with it, and with a design that works around it.

On a Sedan proportioned grill, an aftermarket Star grill looks incredibly cheap and awkward.

Of course, but I don't think there's debating that from a styling perspective in when comparing to actual and original M-B Star grills, the aftermarket slapdash look of a Star grill on a Sedan that is originally proportioned and designed to work exclusively with the Luxury grill, it looks off and non-OEM.

I'm good with that.

Not sure why there is a need to debate it. Some folks make modifications to their vehicles. Some of these mods are (radical?) departures from OEM. People either like them, or they don't like them.

It's like different versions of a song. Any version other than what the artist originally intended in their composition is not wrong - it's just different from what the artist intended. You either like it or not.

Personally... I don't like the big star on a W211, when I had gotten my '05 E55, the previous owner had put on one of those grills... wasn't bad, but wasn't my style
