SBC Stop ... anyone tried this??

Has anyway tried this? I found this described under the 'Driving Systems' part of the manual - but can't seem to be able to activate it.

See this link - page 226 onwards.

Apparently if you activate the cruise system at stationery, SBC Stop starts up. It's intended for use in bumper-to-bumper traffic, and applies brakes automatically once your foot is off the accelerator until the car comes to a full stop - it then holds the car in a braked mode until you step on the accelerator again. It's meant to turn itself off once you go past a certain speed.

Perhaps it hasn't gone past local regulator's approval??

What about SBC Hold?? I can't activate this one either! [This systems is not marked as an asterisk to show that it is optional equipment]. It is meant to hold the brakes on an incline to stop the car from slipping backwards.

Cheers
Craig

well i think it is already on, once we do let go of the gas, the car does slow down, enough to get it to 0 mph pretty quickly in neighborhod streets.

Hi bmms8

I don't that that is it! Mine does that too, but it doesn't come to a complete stop ... and hold the stop! It does slow down, I admit, when you lift your foot off the gas.

You're meant to get "SBC S" on the dash-display as well when activated ... I don't get that!

Cheers

As far as I know, these features are only available for the estate models thus far.

This makes sense now ... thanks! Where did you find out about this?

Although there's no reason why that feature can't be just 'turned on' for the sedans - it's only a matter of turning the electronics on, right?

bmms8 - thanks for trying! I've been doing that too but without success!

i tested the "SBC Hold" on friday in the new E-class estate.

- push brake normal to stop the car
- then push short the brake pedal to activate "hold" an SBC hold icon appears in your multi-display
- now you can take of your feet from the pedals, the car will stay in that position. hill up or down, doesn´t matter.
- simply accelerate to deactivate SBC hold.

really a nice new feature, i used it on nearly every traffic-light.

here are our first 8 T-modell´s:

and, nice to see that the DVD-command is ready now! it works great!
