Question about 05 E500 hp and performance
I'm in the market for a used 4 dr sedan and I have narrowed it down to the 05 E500. I currently own 02 E46 M3 and a w208 CLK55. My question is pretty simple. I did a little research on the specs for the E500 and it's something along the lines of a 5.0-liter V-8 that cranks out 302 hp and 339 pounds-feet of torque and my CLK55 is V-8 347 hp and 376 tq.
If I was to purchase the Renntech performance package that SUPPOSEDLY gives 325 HP @ 5600 RPM; 365 LB-FT @ 3000-4600 RPM; +2 MPG, will the E500 feel remotely closer to how my CLK feels? I know the E500 weighs more but will I get a similar smile gassing the E as I do the CLK?
I know a lot of you guys will say just get the E55 but I can get the E500 for roughly 10k w/20k miles because it's from a family member that just needs it to be paid off.

i have a bone stock e500 right now and the performance feels awesome! has alot of thrust to it, i soon hope to put a powerchip in it that would give similar numbers to the renntech upgrade you listed, for 10k i dont think yoll be disappointed! Good Luck

the 500 is quick but it won't feel like the 55 N/A amg motor. A 550 is more similar to the 55 n/a motor
however, you will not be dissapointed with the 500. with the chip it will be even better. remember, not only does the chip add more power, but it also gives better throttle response and more fuel, thus making it a better experience.

That is a very nice price for that vehicle/mileage. If anything, you can sell it later down the road, if the car doesn't suit you (as long as the relative doesn't mind).

I'd say get it for 10k. The car pulls well enough. The response is not instant unless you have a lead foot.
Some of the throttle control units like the Sprintbooster or the Velocity system seem to appease those who want more response.

yeah man you gotta do it for 10k, i paid double that for mine and that one is newer, i sold my old 320 w210 for 10k so definatly do it, worst comes to worst, you dont like it, then sell it, youll come out way ahead selling it for close to 20k. i would say do the renntech or powerchip, then put a sprintbooster in.
