I have a 2009 e350 with the amg sports package. I notice 3 of my tires have cracks in them but no damage on any of the rims. I called mercedes and they told me that they never heard of any problems with defective tires or repaired any defective tires. Should i take this car to a tire dealer that deals with continental and is a dealer and have them look at it. i have a few choices at tires i can get the continental h rated pro contact for 169, continelal extreme contact dws for 169 or the stock z rated pro cxontact for 229. THis happened one 3 tires. Whats your opinion?

I would take it back to Mercedes and get their take on it, if you make enough of a stink about it. They might just replace them for free. You never know!!!

i spoke to mercedes on the phone they told me they never heard of it but i only spoke the a service advisor. I think one of them could of been done from a pothole. Plus the prices they quoted me at the dealer is super expensive. THe guy at the tire shop told me he deals with continental all the time and can probably get me covered on 1 or 2 ofd the tires? My dealer is a bit of a drive also.

speak to the shop foreman and in person.
Why would you replace with the same brand? Its like eating at a restaurant again after finding a pube in your food ... why go back?

Got any pictures to share? How many miles on the tires? If the tires have less than 15k miles and you think the cracks are due to manufacturing defects, I would try to get the dealer to give 50% off the next set. My previous set of Continential lasted only 22k mi: The treads in the rear tires were completely worn out after 22k mi, mainly probably because I didn't rotate the tires. Now I rotate the tires every 5k mi and all four seem to wear out evenly.

ok so mercedes was of no help. I spoke to my local tire shop and he took the front two off and sent them back to contintental he said he is a continental dealer and he made me fill out a form claim he said he will get me 50% off. He said to wait on the third tire a few weeks and send it back. I paid 216 a tire with mounting and balancing not bad if u ask me, honestly the more i think about it the more i think potholes ****ed up my tires. The weather here has been bad we set the record for snow here in february.
