Question Suspension Help Please

Please, if you would help me out with some info. My E320 has the sport suspension. The front, on it's OWN, irrespective of any suspension button settings (not counting the raise car button) varies from about 26.5" to 27.25" (or vise versa) high measured straight up to the top of the front fender well (in a line with the center of the wheel). It does it sometimes when I open the door, sometimes when I open the trunk (w/remote), sometimes as I am walking away from the car after parking.
Does anyone else's car do that?
The dealer tells me that it does not and cannot do that, and that there is really no such thing as a "lowered sport hieght" (the manual is wrong they say).
Note that when in the "raised setting" it is up to around 28" (plus), but that is not what I am looking at here.
Thanks in advance,
Doug

I haven't taken the time to measure the height but I do notice buzzing sounds when I open the door or unlock the doors after the car has been sitting for a while. I also hear buzzing when I turn the car off. Not sure what it is although it's probably either the Airmatic or SBC system.

The reason for this is, I believe, the air suspension adjusts itself to be under a lower pressure for when the car is parked and such, anytime not in driving. I also notice the car lower alittle from viewing the hood drop when the car is in park.

It's normal. No problems, just the suspension keeping the car's weight in check.

I have a similar issue. I have 18 inch AMG wheels so the fender gap is more noticeable. Sometimes the car sits low enough to be acceptable. Sometimes it looks like a 4x4. The car seems to decide it's ride height at random. I thought about taking it in, but figured the dealer would give me the usual "that is normal" (translated, they don't know what's wrong with it).

Guys: The only cure for cars equipped with ABC is to buy the module to adjust the ride height properly.

In my customer case SL55, I used the Kleemann module and now the car seats nice and low.

Everything is normal- they are supposed to do this.

When you open the door the car sits up. When you open the hood, the car kneels down. In P is different than D. Any of the "sport" shock settings lower the car.

What is important is when the car is running and gear selector is in D.

Kleeman;
Now we are getting somewhere - two dealer so far tell me that the Car does NOT lower, period, ever. And cetatainly that the sport button does NOT lower the car. We just did a test, and although the car was standing still (foot on brake), prior to starting, hieght = 26.25+, after start hieght = 26.5+, when put in D no change, after putting in P and turning off hieght = 27".

Crazy4cars; is that the module that voids the warranty? I would love the car to sit a bit lower, but don't know about warranty issues.

Heres page 41- this should clear it up once and for all. Also- from "standard" setting car lowers -15mm when vehicle speed exceeds 87MPH or 140 KPH- as stated on page 40 of the same manual.

Kleeman;

Again, thanks.
That however is the very issue, the dealers (2 of them) say the manual is a misprint and that the car does NOT lower (E320 anyway).
I am not trying to argue, but only to understand. I do appreciate your responses.

Also, who might I talk with about purchasing Kleeman parts? (Somehow, I think you might know)

for reference

At rest, ignition off, my E320 is 26.25/25.375" at top of wheel wells. I then turned ignition on then made measurements, and these settings changed depending on occupants and where they were sitting. Anyhwhere between 25-28". I guess that means the Air suspension system is working.
When driving I use the "I" setting and enjoy the feel and ride.
Conclusion, static measurements are irrelavent to me, it is the ride that counts. And I do enjoy that and the settings available.
