Missing Manual Trunk Release Switch

Both my 07 SL and 08 CLK have exterior manual trunk release latches. My 07 E550 does not. All cars have keyless locks. The only way I can open my trunk is with the manual key, inside trunk release or key FOB. I do not have an auto closing trunk. My MB SA was shocked by this when I pointed it out. Is this normal?

Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but can't you just use the trunk latch and open it?
(as long as the car itself is unlocked, just open the trunk with your hand and the latch...)

Right, I'm shocked about the SA. If the latch is really missing, can you (the OP) confirm the car has been yours from new and the latch has not been removed?

The latch that I would normally press is missing.

What do you mean by press? Should be a handle you "pull" above the licence plate in-between the lights?

So you are saying you just turn the manual key and it opens?

Yes, I agree but there is nothing there. I'm returning to the dealer to ask why.

So what you are saying is that there is no "trigger" switch to squeeze in the middle of the trunk? That's really odd. Maybe it broke off somehow?

Nothing there to press, pull, lift, squeeze etc. I'm at the dealer tomorrow to get my my two rear O2 sensors replaced (39K miles) and I'm going to ask them about this too.

Any chance you could provide a pic so that members can help you better?

I read this as "so that members believe you and don't assume you were expecting the old-fashioned push-button at the trunk".

If the trunk release handle is really missing, someone has had to be "working" with the car and leaving parts out that should be there.

Not necessarily DB. A pic is worth 1000 words and will make assistance easier - failed, missing components, etc
