Turn signal blinks wrong way

Hi guys,

Just checking to see if anyone has seen this. It does not happen all the time but when I set the blinker to turn right, it does one of 4 things:

1. blink right, like it is supposed to
2. blink left momentary and then blink right
3. blink left
4. alternate between 2 and 3 (i.e. it kind of goes crazy; rare though)

I am thinking there is a bad contact somewhere. Since it does not always happen, it is hard to reproduce if I was to take it to the dealership. Just wanted to get more info, if there is any.

For now, left blinking is fine.

BTW - It is an 05 e500.

I would assume the issue would be with the blinker switch.....

Contact spiral part # 1714640918 (for comparison-shopping, parts. com $69) may need adjustment/replacement or more commonly blinker switch part 1715402245 (77.05) needs replacement. PM email address and I will forward instructions for DIY inspection/repair.

CPO 08 E350 4MATIC AMG SPORT/P2... totaled 05 e320 4matic R.I.P. 12/04 - 2/10
I had this exact issue on my 05 e320 4matic few months back, dealership conducted some tests and found a short...

they went ahead and replaced the combination switch (turn signal handle)..
it was covered under warrenty.

This happens when you run low on blinker fluid. It is easy to refill, just pick up some at your local auto parts store. You'll have to ask at the counter to make sure you get the right stuff. Might want to take the opportunity to refill your headlight fluid as well. Can't be too careful.

Misery loves company. I'm glad I was not the only one.
