Thats not true, the car is dipped in rust proofing just like "american cars" are, and they are painted with water-based paint just like the "american cars" are, no OEM is using oil based paint anymore. that is one of the reasons the paint chips so easy. MB uses more nickel in their metal and the use of aluminin is what prevents them for rusting prematurely...

Religion doesn't exist to me, so saying "burn in Hell" is too little a punishment, for someone who keys a car, at least for no reason or "justified" motive (someone who wrongs someone majorly, and loves their car, for example, is kind of an open target, although to me, cars are always "off limits", as I'm too much an enthusiast).

For someone to mess with someone's property, and yes, key someone's car (perhaps the most annoying thing someone can do, I'd WAY rather someone just beat the sh** out of my car and total it), I can only wish they get RAMMED by a Mack-Truck and suffer a painful death. No need to sympathize with low-life human beings, who make it a point to make others (who are innocent/have nothing to do with them especially) suffer.

Actually what he's saying is completely accurate. M-B does not use oil paint anymore, no one can (against the Law). I didn't know about/am not sure about the Nickel/Aluminum thing however, and how much of each different manufacturers use, or the process of painting.

What I will say is, although nothing SHINES like a Benz, the Nano paint is much softer than I'd like, in fact, my Chevy Malibu's paint seems more durable (maybe it's just because I don't care much about the paint upkeep on that Car), and although I've driven it many more miles, and it's gotten lots more road abuse, it seems to be A LOT more durable in preventing rock chips than the Benz is.

And sorry to hear that O/P, that is a nightmare, and probably my biggest materialistic-based fear/energy sucker. Hope everything works out for you.

Wow that really sucks. I hope that it is able to be repaired at minimal cost and inconvenience to you.
The lack or respect for other people and their property these days never ceases to amaze me

She's getting fixed a week and a half from now. Decided to go with a recommendation from the shop I use to do all my mechanical work. He sends all his high end cars to this place. It's about 30-45 min away but it sounds like it's worth it and I checked them out. They laughed at the $1700 quote I showed them and said it's going to be more but not to worry as they would handle that with my insurance company.

While I wish I could say there was a good ex-girlfriend or ex-wife story here (i.e. another satisfied customer) it was nothing but a random stupid act of distruction to someone else's property. It will be fixed soon and just a memory...

Glad to hear that you are getting your vehicle back to it's previous condition. I am sorry to hear about the keying. One of my non benzes got scratched (possbily a mild keying) a week ago. I am just thankful it wasn't one of the Mercedes.

The guy should be thankful that the owner doesn't know who he/she is. I know from a case where one found out who did it and simply destroyed his knee cap. The perp feels his mistake for the rest of his life. Better than burning in hell since hell is something man made to believe in whereas a broken knee is something real.

I filed a hit and run last time some dumb asses in an F-150 hit my car with their door in a parking lot. I got out and asked if they know that they just hit my car. They walked away and and told me they don't care. I asked if he would care if I would call the cops. He said no and kept walking away. I waited in the car until they came back from the store and drove off and called the cops. Since he didn't want to give me insurance information he paid for his arrogance. Pictures of his car next to mine incl. his face on it did the rest. Police even told me how stupid one can be but such is live.

Sure sorry that happened to you FT Benz. A few years ago I had the same experience with my Porsche. I cannot understand the mindset and mentality of any low life who would purposely damage someone else's property. Could it be envy or something like :"I can't have it so I will give the guy who does have this nice car a lot of grief"? I just don't get it.

Empathy

I feel your pain my friend, I picked up my new car (well new for me), a 2009 W211 in mint condition, 2 weeks ago.

Last night I was on the couch minding the baby when the missus came home and said "what happened to your car?". I nearly dropped the poor child on her head with the shock.

Some **** in a red car had obviously gotten a bit to close for comfort and left me a few nice scratches and a little red design round the corner of my bumber.

What good is having parktronics when someone else does the bloody damage.

I have feeling I know who it might have been, but how do you say it to them without proof?

If i claim on the insurance to get it fixed my premium with go stupid next year so I'm stuck with having to touch it up myself.

Wow, this thread is like a collection of recent keyings. I feel truly sorry for all of you guys.

@stevieob: If you know it go there and see if the car is outside. See if there are scratches at the same height as yours are. If so, call the cops I guess and let them do the work.

good call mack, will check out the car i think it might be.

only problem is that the bosses brother rents space from us and i think it was his missus (you should see the way she parks sometimes!) so might be awkward accusing her even if the proof is there.
