OBD II code P0015
Hi all,
From time to time (once a month) my check engine light comes on and goes out the next day. So I finally bought a USB OBD II scanner and found the error code P0015 "B" Camshaft Position -Timing Over-Retarded (Bank 1).
Does anyone know what this is and how did it happen? Should I take it to the dealer or it is something I can fix, e.g. replacing a sensor, etc.? Does it have anything to do with the type of gas I put in the car?

By your comment on "gas type" - I am assuming you are not fueling with 91+...this could cause pre-ignition (knock) and the sensors along with the adjustable cam are working to prevent it...you maybe working them too hard...
If you are using 91, try 93 or higher, run an approved fuel additive and try a different, highly reputable fueling station...

I am sure there is Ethanol in the gas in USA, at least %10, there is no avoiding that.
I suspected that the regular gas had something to do with this camshaft retard error code. Last time, I used 89 octane gas and the next day I the light came on. I can't be too sure but I believe every time I fill regular gas, the engine light goes on the next few days.

You might check your manual for fuel octane ratings and driving methods.

My 2003 manual states 91 octane and if operating with less (as I had to do during Katrina) the manual states to use no heavy throttle. I feather footed it while using less than 91 octane and never got the light.
