Update on my tire pressure monitoring system...

It turns out that my TPMS works just fine. They system will not read static pressures (from what I can tell). Apparently, the sensors in the valve stems detect motion and turn "on" when the car is actually moving. This allows conservation of sensor battery life, but does not allow static pressure checks on cold tires on a parked car.

Regarding my "Warning! Low tire pressure front left and front right" message after setting my tires to Mercedes spec (29 psi front/ 34 psi rear for above 100 mph), all you need to do is simply reset the TPMS by holding down the dimmer knob at the left of the gauges when in the appropriate screen. This resets the "range" that the TPMS monitors and the warnings disappear! :p

I have found the system to be useful thus far, allowing me to occasionally monitor tire pressure while driving. If something seems awry, I can quickly check pressures and pick up a low tire before it get shredded to pieces, possibly causing an accident.

I can check my tire pressure without the car moving..... just turn the key to "ON".

Are you able to read pressures after the car has been parked for a while? I honestly can't remember if I had the ignition on or not (but the motor was definitely not running). When I try to check the pressures, all I get are blank lines... no numbers, unless the car is moving.

I'll have to give it a try...

It always works with the key on (whether the engine is running or not and if the car is moving or not). Hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice. I must have missed that part in the 695 page manual!
