anyone have the multi contour seat?
i'd be interested in your opinions of it. this doesn't seem to be an option that cars on dealer lots ever seem to have, i guess that means its not that popular?

03 E320, sport package, moon roof, sound upgrade, brilliant silver, charcoal leather, heated seats..
many people on this forum have reported the seats are not worth the money. the drive dynamic option is reported as worthwhile.

The Drive Dynamic option which includes the "multi contour" features. The "Multi Contour" adjustments aren't large, but a "fine tuning" and do make the nice "extra touch". The Drive Dynamic features are very nice. I also have the active ventilated option which is real nice where I live.... which is hotter than hot in the summer!:p

Massage thing pisses me off
There is NO MASSAGE feature! This pisses me off. I got them and looked for the massage feature. It wasn't there despite the salesman and brochure saying it has it. I often feel I should get a refunded for that option. Option isn't that great anyway. The active vent seats are pretty good.

the 406 multicontour seats, not the drive-dynamic nor the active-ventilated, do *not* have a massage feature
I think they're OK if they were built in, but not really worth the trouble.
I got the 406 and the heated seats/wheel. With the rather cold winter we've had in NYC this year the heated wheel/seats are great. Makes me wish I would have active-ventilated seats for the summer, and hadn't bothered with the 406 seats.

I enjoy the multicontour seat option, but it is pricey for what you get. The adjustable lumbar support makes it almost worth it IMHO, but in a car of this class and price, all this multicontour/ventilation/drive dynamic action should be STANDARD!
I also like the ability to extend the front edge of the seat to better support your legs. The side bolster support movement is really minimal, so it's not much of a help for someone without a wider torso...

Ok, so the drive dynamic seats have the pulse feature, and the different lumbar controls?
While the standard seats and optional multi-contour seats don't have the pulse feature?

Drive Dynamic Seats
I love the Drive Dynamic seats! Compare the price between the Drive dynamic and the Multi Contour. If you are remotely considering the $755 for the Multicontour. Pay the extra $405 and get the Drive Dynamic. When you buy a car that cost over 55k, What's a few extra dollars. It's like adding a tip to the bill.

Since I see this thread is read by several with the (unfortunately not that great) multicontour seats, I have a question regarding how the thing works.
Who designed the control switch for this thing???
There are the two bar like controls one of which adjusts the side bolsters and the other the front leg extension/support. so far so good.
What about the center button switch that you can press from side to side or front to back. The side to side seems to inflate and deflate the lumbar support. Once I have it inflated, the up down switch only seems to deflate it again. what is that supposed to do? Make the support go up or down the seat back, i.e. more towards your shoulders or more toward the seat bottom? I can't seem to be able to figure out exactly what is going on and would appreciate any input.

Barney, maybe a message in a bottle would have been faster.
I believe that you have correctly described the switch. That last gizmo moves the lumbar support up and down.
One question I have. It seems to me that every so often I have to adjust the seat by increasing the amount of air; that is, it is as if it lost some air over time. It may also just be that over time it feels better with more air. Has anyone else had this experience?
Even if there is some problem, I am quite happy I got the multicountour option. When I have adjusted the seat, I find it extremely comfortable. Without the adjustments, I don't (and I find the seat in my wife's 2002 E430 uncomfortable as well). For me, it was certainly worth the money.

I got the drive dynamic seat in my navigation replacement after having the multi-contour seats in my first E500.
There is a great deal more adjustment in the DD seat. I really was disappointed in the MC seat....but am very happy with the DD seats in the replacement.

I have DD and AVS and I highly recommend them. The DD works like advertised and the AVS keeps your bottom cool, wish it kept my back cool, but its well worth it, especially here in Texas.

I love the driving dynamic seats. As soon as I step in and I got a passnger with me, I make sure they can fele the same enjoyment too. The pulse feature is really good too cuz it does help me relax and allows not for my back to tighten up sometimes..
The Multi-Contour is crazy too. I fit so snug in that seat. it molds right around me and it feels sooo comfy..hahaha..
