Let's play: How much will this cost to fix?

Wife had a 15mph inertia test with a furry woodland creature. Car is at the body shop as we speak. No suspension damage, just the minor body blemishes seen here:

Nice ride :P

Nice ride. Had to check my garage just now to make sure it wasn't mine!

No idea on the cost of the fix. Hope it turns out well.

This is expensive:
- new door
- new head lamp
- new side trim panel (is this the right term?)
- new fender
If there are no other defects - I think it will cost about 5000$.
But I do not know the prices for the USA.

If you take it to an independent, they MIGHT salvage the bumper cover. It looks like some of the anchors have failed. Sometimes you can jury rig a perfectly acceptable solution. Of course, the safer (more profitable) alternative is to replace the cover. I think the side skirt is toast. Light / fender appear intact?
So:
New bumper cover $300
Skirt $225
Labor 4 @ 175 $ 700
Paint- all $750
Shop Supplies

Total say $2000

If that door is damaged (looks like a reflection) add $2500

Headlight is cooked. Bumper tabs are broken, needs to be replaced. Front door is a gone(er) and MB will not sell door skins, rear door is salvageable, rear 1/4 panel has scratch not seen in pics, skirts is done

Oh, and if anyone ever needs to replace a bi-xenon, self-leveling with active cornering headlight, plan on $1800.00, each!

Off topic, but are those rims that you and AMG4EmE have OEM? what model(s) were offered with those?

Yes sir, OEM. They're the 2 piece, 18" E63 AMG equipped with the 030 performance package, wheels.

Are you sitting down? I think they're about 9000.00 from the dealer.

Sorry to hear about her car Benz-O.

And reluctantly I'll have to play.
Three weeks ago, stopped at a stop sign, at an exit to a shopping center, and an elderly woman made a "short" turn into my lane and clipped my front end. Damn Toyota !! Also, about 15-20mph.

Edit: and, like so often happens, all apologetic when in shock right after the accident and then 24hrs later changes her story to the insurance co. So had to wait another week for the police report before her insurance co would accept liability. Lesson folks: ALWAYS call the police and do NOT move the car(s) !

Yea, active Bi-Xenon, bumper, hood and fender also gone (aluminum)
Oh, and my beloved clear corner.

Actually, the E500 is still mine, not hers! She was driving it because she refuses to drive her R500 anymore until it turns into a Range Rover.

Do you have the active cornering headlamps? If not, they're only 1200.00......."only"

Old people should have to renew their licenses every year. I hate seeing these beauties crumpled. Ugh, what a nightmare.

The good news is, use this opportunity to upgrade to the AMG bumper.

Yes, active lights....as mentioned right above the first photo.

And remember Clayton, what's yours is hers !

I agree 110% ! She misjudged the turn so badly that she didn't even attempt to brake.
Well, fortunately no one was hurt. But with Carfax, there goes the value of the car come sale time.

In fact, my local Benz dealer told me that they wouldn't even take a car in trade, that's been in this kind of accident. Cars 2yrs old, and newer can sue for what's called diminution of future value. So, I'm screwed value wize.

Benz-O-Rama- I have a 2004 E500 as well. It appears you have experience fitting a 2007+ front bumper on the car. Is there any special modifications I should be aware of when adding an E63 front bumper?

Thanks for any insight.

...and best of luck on your car!

Make sure to make the most out of the situation and see if you can make a little money out of it because work like this will most likely make it on the carfax and affect resale.

Holy smokes. Mind if I ask how much you got them for and/or where?

I'd be worried about getting them stolen if they're worth $9k new.

Mine is a 2003-2006 AMG bumper, not 2007+. The one I have is a direct fit, only the fog light connectors needed to be changed out. The 2007+ AMG bumpers are more involved. A couple of people have done it on here. There's even a part list somewhere in these threads. It's gonna be expensive, just so you know.

Worth is relative. Just like the $1800.00 headlight I need. No way it's worth that. Anyway, I was looking at E63s a while back and called a non-MB dealer in Florida about a car. The car sold that day and the salesman told me "The car is sold, but we have the wheels". Apparently, the customer wanted a set of aftermarket wheels put on instead of the stockers. I asked him to send me pics, and I ended up buying them for the E500. They're very rare but I've seen a couple of sets sell on here in the $2500.00 range for the set. Which is very, VERY cheap considering how rare they are. But they were also being sold during the lowest point in our economic down turn.

We'll, you are going to put in an insurance claim for the damge, aren't you ?

Damage to your car doesn't seem as bad as mine, at first glance.
BTW, aftermarket headlight is half the cost of the dealer.

No guess's on cost of my repair yet, anyone ?

Thanks for the help benz-o-rama. I actually should have just used the search tab as a search for, "e63 front end conversion" pulled a posting with all the part numbers. And yes, much more expensive than a e55 conversion!

Probably not worth it for me since I won't have insurance help me out however you should pull the trigger!

I haven't hit one yet - a few near misses - but I've actually had 2 friends and 3 employees hit deer in the past 5 years. And I'm kind of a loner, I don't know that many people.

Makes one believe in hunting, doesn't it?
