I was able to get the manager at an Autozone to giveme one instead of a Mobil 1 filter
when they had the last buy 5 quarts for $29.99 and get a free Mobil i filter.
I got the K&N HP-7004 then compared it to the fleece Mann filters I have.
The K&N is made in Germany. I then looked at the number on the instruction sheets for both
that are in the plastic bag with the o-rings. They are the same number on that sheet.
So to take it one step farther before I install it I called K&N and they told me they have
them re-branded for them by Mann. So in reality it is the same filter and will perform
just the same as OEM or the Mann which is a supplier for MB oil filters.
I see no risk at all using it.
Take a look at yours and you will see the made in Germany on the filter.

It is currently in the ML 430. They take the same filters as the E500.
Currently about 3000 miles on it and I will run it to about 6000-7000 miles.

Make sure you dry some of that oil off of the K&N air filters before you install them. They can and will foul your MAF sensor if over oiled.
