What is the easiest was to know if a E350 has BI Xenons from the outside?

Iam looking at a E350 for sale online and have acouple pictures of it.

Is there a way to recognize from the outside if it has BI-Xenon lights?

Is there any way to know if it has the P2 package just by looking at pictures?

If it has Bi-xenon, there will be washer cutouts in the bumper.

thanks for the reply. great help.

Yes in the picture, i do see the cutout for the washers.
But also the the P2 package also includes the push start shiftknob but i see it doesnt have that.

When someone buys a new car with a package, and could they have pick BI-Xenon lights(P2package) and cancel of the shiftknob start(P2)?
Get what iam saying?

thanks

If you are going to buy a car, then better just run VIN against some info system to get complete reports of options the car has. However if you are just walk along with a friends and talking about cars you see on street, then yes, some knowledge of appearance of packages can be helpful

Not 100% true. I've seen an 07 with these washers but no BIX. There was a separate code and $ amount on the sticker for those.

Keyless and Xenons come with P2, manual starting and HIDs come with P1. Xenons look like a round glass shaft, HIDs are a bulb.

Incorrect. P1 = halogen. BIX = HID in P2. BIX are a bulb as well; same as halogen just different construction and gas.

Have someone start the car. Have them turn on the headlights & you watch one of the headlights from about 20 feet away.

Halogen will light right up & have a slight gold cast to the light. Xenons will flicker to life (almost like a flourescent bulb) with a blue-ish white-ish light. If they are active bi-xenon lights they will do a littl dance up & down &/or right & left.

for 07-09, if it has keylessgo, it has BiXenons. Washers came on the sport package for 07+ cars where unlike before, only with the BiXenons.

HID is simply "high intensity discharge." It's a term for the electric arc that makes the light. And in the auto industry also known as Xenon gas headlamps. Or Bi-Xenon (BIX) if the projector has a shade and makes a cut-off for a high beam and low beam pattern.

There's a bulb in both P1 and P2. One is halogen and burns with a filament (H1, H3, H4, etc.) the other ignites a gas instead (as a metal halide lamp filled with xenon gas) and uses a ballast to provide the current. Xenon gas allows for immediate start-up.

p.s., washers are an ECE regulation with certain intensity lights, and not required in the USA.

Well in the picture i see, on the side of the steering wheel that it has the slot for the key to go in. So it looks like it doesnt have keylessgo.
Right?

Also would it maybe not have the keylessgo and have Xenons. Can you pick what you want from a package when you buy a new E350?

thanks

Right?
The Keyless Go cars still have the slot for the key. You need to see a pic of the transmission shifter to see if it says Engine Start/Stop. If not, then no Keyless Go.

Even if you have Keyless Go, you still get a slot for the key and you can start it in the usual way. I like this feature because it gives me a place to put the key on a long trip, instead of in my pocket.

thanks for the info.
How about if you have the key in your pocket, can you still start the car with gear shifter button?

Yes, that is the point of Keyless Go. You can also unlock and lock the car with the exterior door handle with the key in pocket also.

Exactly. Once you get used to Keyless Go, it seems like such a chore to take the remote out of your pocket, press the button on the remote to unlock the doors, put the key in, and turn it to start. With Keyless Go, you just walk up to the car and open the door. While you use your left hand to release the parking brake, your right hand is already on the shifter and pressing the start button. This saves you at least 5 seconds on each entry. Do you know what that adds up to in saved time during the life your your car??? Oh, and not to mention that you don't have to remove your gloves in the winter.

You can have the tiny key fob chip and the battery embedded in your wrist by a veterinarian and dispense with having to carry it in your pocket altogether.

Only 4 stitches and it took just 1 week to heal completely.

Are the buttons for the keyless go on the passanger handles also?

I seen on a differant e350(black color) with the button on the drivers door.
The button was black.

The car iam looking at is Cream/white. Would the buttons on it still be black?

The dealer said that it also has the rear and side blinds?
Is there a separate button for the rear blind to go up and a button for the side blinds?
Where are they located?
i heard the blinds tend to have alot of problems? true?

How does the electric trunk closer work?

Rear blind runs remotely with a switch in the front console. Side blinds are completely manual. Electronic trunk close is convenient.

Keyless Go, trunk close, rear sunshade; all can fail whenever they feel like failing. Warranty will cover it. Electronics are the bane of all modern cars, esp MBs.
