Dipstick Tool
Dumb question! I just received dipstick tool M0110. Since MB is new to me, on the tool are marking towards the bottom which read 50 to 200. Further up by the handle are markings 550 to 840. The markings are either in centimeters or millimeters? Now the dumb question, when checking the oil, what should the "full" level be? 50 to 200 does not mean a thing to me. I am use to dipsticks that read full, and add quart of oil. I guess that I should just go ahead and pull the cover and check the oil just to see where it is at.
Be right back......
OK, I am back. One, the dipstick tool did not go all the way in (stuck out about six inches), but it seemed to bottom out in the oil pan. The reading was 130 (I checked it three times). Again, what does 130 mean (full, low, etc.)?
Thank you!
Mike T.

For a 112.949 gas engine.....
... the correct oil level should be between 170-172mm on the dipstick. This range is also applicable for the 112.912/913/946/955/973 engines (I don't know if any of these are diesels). Sorry that I can't help you any further with this.

Use of this special tool is described in the service DVD

They certainly dont make it easy to find. I had to do some browsing for awhile to find the chart with the numeric equivalents from the tool
