front control arm bushings?

anyone have them replaced? I'm looking at a $2000 cost..(not sure if that even covers the alignment)

60K in NYC.. I can understand why they would go..... but that is a heck of a charge...

Bushings or ball joints? (most replacements are ball joints, hence the question). In any case, each bushing is $35.00, seems extremely expensive, unless you have to change some arms. Check http://www.mercedesbenzgenuineparts.com and call an indy in your area.

Read the following link for replacing ball joing & control arm
http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w211...all-joint.html

And w/ more details on the lower ball joint
https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...oint-w211.html

It's a lot of work in my opinion. Ball joints tend to wear out at >50k mi, bu control arms seem to last longer in these cars. Go a good MB indy shop, they probably can do the job at 1/2 the cost of a typical dealer.

you are a MB GOD! I am very impressed... a man after my own heart. Unfortunately, I got knicked for the control arm bushings ($220 for all 4) and then 8.5 hours of labor... $165 nyc prices... + the alignment!

now if you had blogged about replacing the oil sensor switch...

sounds like you got quite the deal..... if the parts are approx $140 (discounted) to $210 OEM... and it took (lets say) 6 hours to fix for your guy (when MBUSA says that it takes 8.5 and they spent 10 on mine) .. then you got about $80 an hour (6 x 80= $480 + $140 = $620)

I think that next time... I'd rather have bought OEM and the special tools and done it myself and had the reassurance that it was done right.... when you have the family in the car...it is worth it more than saving the coin from non MB tech working on the car or doing it myself.... of course next time.. I won't get it done in Manhattan @ $165 an hour!
