How can I tell if I have regular halogen or Bi-Xenon Headlights?
Hello, I've been searching this forum, and cant find an answer. I just bought a 2003 E320 with only 56k miles. I'm not sure what are the upgrades and options on the car.
The headlights look like they are the newer projection type headlamps, but im not sure they are the Bi-Xenon, because the light coming out of them are really yellow compared to my 2005 CLK with Bi-Xenon.
So my question is, how can I tell?

Yellow = not Bi-Xenon's.
When you start the car, Xenon's will adjust and level themselves.
If you're still not sure, as amdeutsch recommends, Search The Eff'n Forum

My friend has halo's and I'm pretty sure he has the same projector look to his headlights. The only way I can tell is if he turns his on .. its of course a yellow light and doesn't level.
His is an 09 and I've got an 08.

tbone,
So, in your photo of the E500 Sport, what am I seeing in your far left and right headlights: xenon or halogen?
My 08 E350 Sport has the same looking headlights as your photo, and I was told they were halogens by an MB tech. I also have the headlight washer system, which I thought came only with the xenon package, but other posters in the W211 forum have said they're not necessarily linked together.

the W211's all have projector-style headlights, whether you have halogens or xenons. Honestly, it's been so long since I bought this car that I don't recall all the various package offerings, and so I can't recall if headlight washers could be ordered separate from xenons.
I didn't order xenons as a stand-alone option. I ordered the sport package, which included the xenons, washers, rims, blue windows, slight body kit difference, etc
As other's have said, it's quite easy to tell if you have halogens or xenons (yellow light or a crisp white w/ slight bluish tint). At initial start-up, xenons are more purplish, then turn whiter as the lights warm up.

Not all xenons light up this way. Most xenons from factory come with a 4300k bulb which will look yellowish. When you switch the bulb to 6000k they will look how you described above. I have included a pic of my xenons with the 4300k bulb and one with the 6000k bulb.

i have stock bulbs, and that is what I am describing as a crisp white, and your yellow. lol. point is, a 4300k "yellow" is much whiter than a halogen yellow

Ok, forget if you have projector or not, because all E classes 03+ have projectors (01 - 07 C and 03 - 09 CLK if they have projectors you have BiXenon's. All 08+ C have projectors).
This is for US cars:
For 03 - 05 E class:
If you have washers, you have BiXenon (03 does not have cornering ability)
For 03, it was a separate package (lighting package)
For 04 and 05 you could get it with the appearance (sport) package (like me) or separately (lighting package).
For 06:
God knows. what a funky MY year that was with this car
For 06+, if you have washers it doesn't mean sh*t since they put washers with the later sport package. However, if you had the older 06 version with appearance (sport) package, you got BiXenon's. Also, you could get it separately (lighting package).
For 07 - 09:
If you have keylessgo you have BiXenon's. That's the only way possible since they where packaged together in Premium 2.
EDIT: tbone has informed me that the 03s also had sport package. so for 03 you could get it separately (option package E1) or with sport package E3.

OK Trey,
I guess the next question is: since I don't actually have xenons, and I can't afford to modify my car to have xenons, then where can I get those stickers? You know...to achieve that "xenon look."

They are available at the dealer parts counter alongside the AMG badges that add 500 HP to your ride. You'll be amazed at the huge improvement in light output these stickers will achieve.

Why would you want the stickers anyways. If that was me I would remove the stickers just for a cleaner looks, Besides who going to open the hood and see if you have the stickers or not.

Oy vey!
Apparently you two do not notice the sarcasm in both our statements. See the big-toothed smilie and the slap smilie? That means we are playing around. Nobody is seriously considering putting these stickers on to fool someone else into thinking they have xenons (I am assuming for Sgooter here, but pretty sure we are on the same page.)
