Why doesn't the W211's have "Voice Command"?
Why doesn't the W211's have "Voice Command"?
I have a 2007 E350 pretty new when I got it. I was just wondering what year did they start putting voice command in the E classes or have they yet since 2007?
I had an 06 E500 and my current 08 E350 both with voice command. It was optional most years, but I believe it was standard on 09's. Since it does not work with Nav (at least up to 08) I find it pretty useless.
I had it on my 05 S500 and 07 S550 also and didn not use it on them much either.

Oh okay cool, I was just wondering because my E350 is completely loaded other than voice command. Would of been nice for radio stations on my car, oh well. Thanks man for the info!

I believe the 08-09 came with voice comman with the P1 pkg which come with the navi. I know my 09 has it. I find it to be pretty handy sometimes especially when putting in a address, it basically hands free.

Figured I would ask you since you have one.
Voice control of the NAV is why I am looking to add it.
Pretty basic... But I like it. Its a novelty.
VCS doesn't work with navigation, but it is very convenient for telephone calls and radio/audio changes. I would love it if it worked with NAV, but I do make a lot of calls and find the feature still rather useful.

Let me guess;
I full retrofit of the '09 Command into an "07 is an expensive and difficult proposition?

Hi, in the process of adding voice control in 07 e350, understand harness for voice control is nonexistent unless it was ordered through build. I thought I was smart and found wrecked 06 and cut out what I thought I needed for the vcs harness. I have everything hooked up, it works except microphone part. The VCS power harness in 06 has a blue 9 wire connector labled SDS that is supposed to pig tail into teleaid. But in 07 doesn't seem to be in trunk harness. Has anyone figured out how to make this part work. Thanks.
Does anyone know how to activate or get voice command to listen to you on an 04 e55? I've gone through the initialization process with success but I have no idea how to get it to respond to me, and the manual is no help.

I have voice command on my 2004 W211 installed from the factory.
I don't remember or not if it had voice control for navigation because I switched to the Euro COMAND and this combination allows me to have voice control for navigation.

Earlier someone posted problems with Voice Control for the phone. In order to activate the Voice Control to dial a number you need to do the following: On you Command System go to PHONE,GO TO A NAME (JOHN JONES) SELECT OPTION along side on John Jones. You system will ask if you want Voice Recognition .You must that say the name "JOHN JONES" the system may ask you to repeat the name until it says "Voice Activation Saved". You need to do this for any phone # you may dial frequently.
