Navigation Alternatives

Given where things seem to be going for the navigation system (I still have my fingers crossed), I wondered if anyone had experience with pocket pc navigation versus dedicated mobile units. Someone had posted on this board that the Magellan 750M was a very good mobile dedicated system, but I have recently seen interesting info around pocket pc systems like Destinator and wonder how they compare, specifically in speed of processing, appearance in car, ease of use, and voice quality for commands.

If anyone has compared the actual units, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks,
Tom

Many, many moons ago, when the Ipaq was new and quite the commodity on eBay, I bought a pc card unit from Teletype. Since then, there have been tons of units, and many of them have adopted the CF card format, which is even better. I would imagine that Teletype has quite the advantage over these, since they have been doing GPS for many years. Also, they have their own software that is tightly integrated with the hardware. The stuff is inexpensive, under $200, and works very well.

I auctioned my stuff on eBay because it was too distracting and I was worried that I might get into a wreck while trying to fudge with the touch screen menus.

Your mileage may vary.
