changing brake pads only?

2005 e320 and want to change the front and rear brake pads because of the brake dust. The pads have little wear on them and wondering if I need to change or resurface the rotors as well.

M-B does not recommend resurfacing rotors. They tend to warp quicker when you take additional metal from them. I believe the DOT requires the minimum wear thickness to be cast into the rotor. If you have a micrometer (probably a ruler would do) you can see how much meat is left. The rear tend to wear quicker maybe because of the drying procedure that the car uses when the wipers are on. Some people have had unacceptable service from aftermarket rotors. Mine are 52000 miles and somewhat scored on the rear but I will probably put a third set of pads on them. The front are still factory. I think the biggest expense with new rotors is shipping. Those boys are heavy. Good Luck

You do know that you have a electric brake booster that will come on and
push the piston out if a door is opened or the car is unlocked make sure that you turn off the tow alarm.
It told me on or around page 99 in my manual.

I have a 2009 E350 sport with 20k miles, both pads and rotors are barely worn, the pads maybe have 25% wear, rear actually are a little more worn. I talked to my service guy, told him I was going to go with Akebono he agreed it would be a good choice. My car has Jurids on a Brambo caliper. I'm going to order from europartsamerica they carry mercedes parts as original or from the manufacturer who actually makes it. I expect to have to apply a little more pressure to brake but I've read instead of having brake dust after 40miles i should be able to go a good 3 weeks without a thorough cleaning. I'll report back after I get them and drive on them for awhile. I've noticed a lot of sites don't make it clear which pad will fit which model car, i took my pads off and cleaned them, made sure i knew what they looked like before ordering, europartsamerica has excellent pictures of what you'll get...glad i did my research i likely would have got pads that didn't fit my car.

pat1926... I would change pads and forget the rotors. Everyone has their own personal taste regarding how far to go or not to go with a brake job, but I can say that I have had good success regularly servicing pads and leaving the rotors alone unless you have an obvious warp/wobble/vibration in the peddle.

If you're changing to a different pad to reduce dust, I'd just replace the pads (& sensors if necessary) and leave the rotors alone. Always a good idea to spray them down good with brake cleaner before you put them back together.
