"brake pad wearing" message appeared then disappeared
Hi All, I have a 2007 e350 sport with 44k miles and yesterday I received my first "brake pad wearing" message on the cluster. After driving for a day the message went away. I shut off and started the car few times since the message and it never came on again. Any reason why this happened? It's time to replace the rear pads so I will do it anyway but I was just wondering why the message doesn't stay on? Also, should I get new rotors too? Thanks

The sensor is basically a loop of copper wire. As the pad wears the wire is cut. It is possible the wire ends may be touching again which will turn off the alarm.
I found on MY car when the alarm comes on I have about 20,000 miles left before the pads meet the MINIMUM MB Spec. your driving however may give a different result.
Rotors at 40,000 I still have my OEM front rotors at 101,000 miles and next pad change I will put on new rotors.
