E350 - Passenger seat only go back halfway. Need detailed instructions

Hi,

I have now read through all the threads on this topic, but there appear to be no real working solution offered.

I have a '08 E350 sedan. It's benn working great. However, yesterday, the passenger seat would not go backward to max possible position, nor would the seat tilt pass the 90 degree position. I tried "reset" methods suggested such as:

1) Hold "M" button and move it to max forward position, hold it for more than 2 seconds and then move backwards;

2) Move the seat to max forward position and hold for more than 2 seconds and then try move backwards.

I did the same for the tile issue. But none resolved the issue.

I looked under the seat and all three cables appear to be connected as they should.

The driver side is working perfect. The passenger will only go back half the distance that it should and tilt only to 90 degrees. There are no clicking noise, no irregular noise when the motor moves the seat to it current limits.

Anyone know how to reset it without a trip to the dealer?

try to unplug the seat control module under the seat. do not unplug any yellow connectors though or it will through an srs light that the dealer will have to clear

Can you please describe in some more detail about the seat control model. Where about under the seat? what does it look like? do I need any tools? Is it connected by pins? Should I hear a click when I unplug and reconnect it? Just that I had not have to mess around with the electric seats before.

In assuming you raised seat to upper most position and checked all harnesses for damage - try pulling f23 (30 amps) @ driver side interior fuse panel after a few minutes reinstall.

not positive. but you should be able to locate the harness that comes out from the carpet. follow the harness and it connects underneath the seat at the front. unplug all the connectors except the yellow one this will perform a reset then re plug in the connectors

Thanks for that response. I had a good look under the seat. I actually don't see a yellow wire. Where the unit is very difficult to get to by hand. It's near the front part fo the seat. It's made worse 'cos the seat can't move back far enough, I can barely get enough room to get under there to take a good look.

Thanks for your help. I've made an appointment at the dealship's service centre to get it sorted under warrenty. Will make an update as to what they say.

Just got back from the dealership. The problem is due to a faulty seat control switch in the door panel. I have read others who had tried to unplug it and blast it with a can of WD40 to clean up the connection. So, if you are comfortable handling that yourself, it should fix it. Luckily I still have warrenty, so it's just a matter waiting for an hour and half for them to sort it out.

211 forum not 207 you should be posting here: https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-c...brio-a207-141/

Could be harness damage, switch, etc. Have someone pull fault codes using MB diagnostics for definitive diagnose:

in my w210 the window switches go bad and can often be sprayed with electric contract cleaner and be brought back to life enough to move seat to desired position and then leave it

My 04 E320 had the same prob with the driver's seat. I cleaned and greased the tracks, rocked it a bit back and forth, then worked fine.

Make sure your rear seat is closed and locked and then front seat will go back all the way. It lockes it so it wont squish back seat

On my '04 E320 the passenger seat became frozen, I cleaned and greased the tracks, all good.
