Question - front mesh guard on a 2009 e350 sport

Hi all,

I've managed to damage the front bumper on my car. There is a black mesh mini-grill which attachs the nose of the front bumper.

Somehow I've managed to bend this a bit. I've circled the part in the attached photo.

What is this part called? part number?

If I need to buy a new one online, where should I go?

Thanks in advance!

I took a rock in mine. It very light metal and I took a coat hanger, made a hook and was able to pull it back to it's original shape very easily. Can't even notice it now. Try that before you go buy one.

Yup, got a dent in mine as well. Hit a huge truck tire on the freeway at night. I heard the entire bumper assembly has to be bought. They don't sell just the black mesh. I'm living with it. I may try the coat hanger idea but its barely visible because its black.

Before purchasing a new center mesh grille, I would try removing it and straightening it out first as loudbmw mentioned. It's pretty easy to remove. There are a couple of clips that holds the grille to the bumper. Just loosen those clips, and the grille should come free.

As for the part number, I am not certain but I believe since you have the sport bumper. It should be the same as the E63 part number. Double check with your parts supplier before purchasing though.

Had a similar problem, dealership gave a quote of 380 to replace it. I'll live with it for now until more rocks damage it.

anyone have DIY instructions on how to remove and install a new mesh grille? Does the bumper have to come off?
