E350 - cam advance solonoid issue

E350 - cam advance solonoid issue
Guys...
Just bought a 2006 E350 wagon with close to 90k miles, and check engine light came on as I was driving it from where I bought it.
At the shop, they read those freaking cam advance solonoid codes.
Let's say I don't fix it. Anyone can tell me what can happen, if it happens? Has anyone had the experience? I mean, there are a lot of those engines on the road, not all of them have been fixed, and I'm pretty sure most of them have the issue, CEL or not.
Any clues?
