Picking up my new (07) E550 4Matic
I live in New York but picking up an 07 E550 4Matic in Florida Saturday. Driving her up as soon as I transfer cash and get my Title/Receipt. Its Black on Black with Ash Maple Trim, P2 pkg, Wood Steering Wheel, Sport Pkg, Ceramic Tints. Absolutely Gorgeous. I hear good things out there about the 07+ E550 so I went for it. This is going to be a big change from a 2007 Toyota Solara SLE V6. Will Post pictures soon.

I will be taking Jetblue down to Orlando and then drive up right away. I am soooo excited that I hope I don't jinx myself. God willing everything works out fine.

Great car, you'll love it but a cautionary word of advice. Before you buy it run the VIN by your dealer to ensure it's not on the transfer case recall list. If you're out of warranty and your car is on the recall list it could be a major $$$$ problem. You can tell if your transfer case is bad by turning the wheels sharply and feeling them "skip/jerk/hop" across the pavement while in slow motion. That was my first clue. I had my transfer case replaced under warranty but it took a visit to my dealer to confirm I had a bad transfer case (it's a portioning valve). BTW, your dealer will probably not volunteer this info as it's not an "official" recall and only applies to a limited number of cars.

Sorry to thread jack. I have an E550 as well and will now have to investigate this transfer case issue. I recently had my car at the dealer for an oil change and they performed the "open pilot bushing campaign" on my car. This was to address a possible leak in regards to the transmission. They did it for free. I wonder if they checked to see if I needed the transfer case replaced, since they were checking my car out.

Here are the pics. A wonderful ride up, average speed around 80mph and I got about 22mpg. Car had 70k mile service done at MB which is about 4k miles ago and no open recalls as per seller.
