Does Anyone Drive Their E As Much As ME??

I bought my E CPO w/ 30k miles on it and I have just passed 150,000!

Other than regular maintenance, mostly at independent, I have only has issues with crank sensor and front control arms.

I live 100mi from work and drive E every day.

What a great car!

How many people have +100k miles?

My tutor owns a W210 wagon who makes a 200 mile commute 4 days a week. I believe its a 1998 model and it has OVER 200,000k Miles. Everything mechanical has been kept well, with the exception of the catalytic converters and some of the electronics inside.

Well, like I said, its my tutor's daily driver. Hes driving it out to 2 Am sometimes so he tells me he really doesn't take count.

He also says his E is one of the last tank-like, ultra-reliable Merc's, always bringing the put-downs on my lemon-worthy S.

No MB but I used to drive a VW Golf 3 back home in Germany and drove about 600k km / 373k miles. Never anything but regular "small" and "big" services done. That's it. Hope to get the 500k and 1 million mile certificate from MB for my car one day!

Does MB really give out certificate for having that mileage point?

I had the 250K badge on my 1997E300D. Its pretty easy, download the form, have your MB dealer sign off, mail it in. In a few weeks you get a grille badge, certificate and nice holder. Pretty cool if you ask me.

The W210's are kind of in a "gray area" in regards to how they stack up in terms of Mercedes history.

Some feel they are amongst the last of the pre-00 "true Mercedes'", and some feel they are the first of the "nu era under-engineered Mercedes" which went until the early MY W211's.

From my research, they have remnants of the older Mercs, but are really the first offender in terms of quality cut M-B's ("Schrempf era"). Just look at the Crash Test Ratings of the pre-facelift W210's, total POS's, folded in half, no strength to the safety cell compartment. The car actually performed worse than the W124 before it. They fixed this problem when they did extensive improvements to the facelifted W210.

I love the W210, but your Tutor is a bit off, even though his is obviously an amazing example.

I have about 205K on my E320 (W210) now. Still kicking...and I applied for my certificate and emblem for the 155K mark.

2003 E320 with 257,000 miles and adding about 35K a year. My office just moved 85 miles from my home and I have to go to the office at least twice a week. Even so, that will result in less miles than 5 days at 120 miles a day.

I have my 250,000 km badge and plan to keep my car for a couple of more years. The 500,000 km badge is next at about 305,000 miles.

DAMN! Where are you guys at when people are reaming the cars general reliability.

So many people think it's such a death-wish risk to own one of these after the Warranty, nice to see that is far from the truth in some cases. Especially considering some are posting with '03-'04 examples.

My father drives a 2004 E270 CDI which now has 440k kilometers (over 270k miles), he does VIP transport for a living (not sure if those are the right words) and averages over 50k miles a year (he told me yesterday that he has driven over 8k kms since November 1st, extra busy month ). The engine is still brilliant, has had no repairs done on it whatsoever, just regular maintenance. Many of the suspension parts have been changed over the years though (pretty much all of the ball joints). His previous car was an E290 TD with over 350k kms on it, too.

03 320 here drove it 7,000 miles so far. I know I'm still a baby to be posting. Almost 80,000 miles and not a single problem so far.

Don't forget that car forums are like therapy to some. They go to them and release all their frustration but never once go to them to discuss all the good prior to the bad.

2004 E320 -- Rolled over 90k on the odometer. Doing great.

Around 45k the car conked out in the middle of the road, due to some sort of ignition issue, fixed under warranty

I'm happy so many of you have so many miles and so few problems!

I have an '03 E320 and I just turned 25,000 miles. I'm probably a low mileage contender here! Love my car!

I only reflect my own specific E500 and the trail of parts from the US to Germany to keep it running. Your results may vary. At 10000 miles I bought flew on my last trip and avoided a break down on the highway in my E500.

But of course your results may vary and be better than mine.

How does an '06 E350 have Airmatic? I thought no '06 350's had it?
