Vdimemmo, this area you are referring to, is actually piece of black textured plastic stuck over the lower valence of the rear bumper.

All E55, both Euro and US versions have this black part installed. In my case, I have left the piece off for now.

Here is a photo of mine. Notice exhaust pipes are still missing. Waiting for correct parts to arrive. The car is a garage queen right now; only 185Km +

nice pics benggolf! what's the purpsoe of the black plastic? to lower the visual stance of the car? or is it because of the expectation that it'll be dirty down there?

That's a good question, but I like what bengolf did, painting that lower piece looks nice!

It just happens to be how the E55 comes from the factory. Perhaps the black plastic treatment makes the back end look more sleek (thinner) and sporty. To me the optical illusion does not lower the visual stance of the car, but in fact does the opposite.

The fully painted look has a more "finished" appearance and makes the car look lower. Check out both pictures again and see if you come out the same observation.

I'm a bit confused. You said this was a seperate piece that went over the lower valence. In the picture of your car, is this piece ommitted or painted to match? Also, how does this piece install to the lower valence?

thanks...vjd

PS: I like the mono color look. I first saw it that way and prefer it myself.

Vdimemmo, what you see on my car is the rear bumper as is without the black plastic overlay. A separate black textured piece is provided for you to mount over the rear valence (see E55 photo above). This piece is mounted by double sided adhesive tape.

I have called a few dealer parts departments and they have KNOW idea about the AMG Kit, Bumbers, Exhaust options, etc. If anyone can post detailed information on the AMG conversion options including Parts, Part Numbers, Price and other Options it would be appreciated! Thanks!

If you could mail the same info to me, I'd appreciate it. As I said before, I'm long over due with my dealer. I'd like to compare part numbers to make sure they are chasing the rights parts.

thanks...vjd

Vraa, can't comment on that right now because I am still waiting for the quad-tips! I have not been driving the car at all....still with the OEM pipes.

Parts are coming tomorrow

Just received word that my AMG rear bumper, AMG mufflers, and rear spoiler are being shipped to me tomorrow. The AMG side skirts are still on order with no ETA.

I'm going to get the rear completed ASAP (spoiler, bumper, exhaust) as I'm way to anxious to wait for the side skirts.

What part numbers did you use for the AMG parts? What is the cost of each?
Which AMG exhaust system are you using - twin single outlets or dual twin outlets?

Thanks.

Anyone know the part # and prices for each AMG kit parts?
Front bumper, Side Skirt, Rear bumper (for twin dual tip exhaust), and the exhaust itself...?
Also, does anyone know any shop/site where I can buy authentic AMG kit from other than MB dealers?

benggolf, what is the part number and dealer price for the newer 'real' E55 4 pipe mufflers.

$1008 for (2) left and right muffler with single oval tips is a good price. Does the E55 muffler set cost the same?

Also, does that extra rear piece on the valance come with full bumper. Thanks.

BTW, your car looks great.

OK, some good news today. My bumper and mufflers actually showed up!

The really interesting news is that I actually received the mufflers with the dual oval chrome tips and the matching bumper (cheezy black piece included). When I placed the order, I was told these parts were not available and the single tip mufflers were the only units available. Almost too good to be true!

The muffler kit came with the following:

(2) AMG mufflers with dual oval chrome tips
(2) rubber hanger/bushings
(2) exhaust clamps

The box also contained some paperwork written in German. From what I can tell, it specifically says "for W211/E500".

The part numbers directly off of these mufflers is as follows:

A211 209 490 03 01 (this is the left unit)

A211 209 490 02 02 (this is the right unit)

The hangers/bushings have the following part number:

A203 492 0444

There were no part numbers on the exhaust clamps.

This kit did not include any seal rings or adapter flange. Is this required? Does anyone know the outside diameter (O.D.) of the E500 exhaust pipes?

Also, these mufflers came in at the same price of $1008 for the pair.

PS: the part numbers listed in my previous posting were inventory numbers from Claus Ettensberger Corp. where I actually placed the order. Great people to deal with.

Saw a real E55 AMG yesterday at the dealers. Damn I nearly plopped down my $ to buy it. It was black on black, xenons, keyless start. WOW 469 HP!!!

And then I remembered, I need to buy a house. Maybe later. :sob:
