AMG Package
Benggolf
I just received the recent issue of Mercedes Momentum and the feature article is the E55. I noticed in the associated pictures that the area between the mufflers is painted black. Do you know if this is specific to US vehicles?
All E55, both Euro and US versions have this black part installed. In my case, I have left the piece off for now.

Here is a photo of mine. Notice exhaust pipes are still missing. Waiting for correct parts to arrive. The car is a garage queen right now; only 185Km +

Vdimemmo, this area you are referring to, is actually piece of black textured plastic stuck over the lower valence of the rear bumper.

nice pics benggolf! what's the purpsoe of the black plastic? to lower the visual stance of the car? or is it because of the expectation that it'll be dirty down there?

The fully painted look has a more "finished" appearance and makes the car look lower. Check out both pictures again and see if you come out the same observation.

I'm a bit confused. You said this was a seperate piece that went over the lower valence. In the picture of your car, is this piece ommitted or painted to match? Also, how does this piece install to the lower valence?
thanks...vjd
PS: I like the mono color look. I first saw it that way and prefer it myself.

Great stuff benggolf! Do the quad tips add any performance?
I'm going to get the rear completed ASAP (spoiler, bumper, exhaust) as I'm way to anxious to wait for the side skirts.
Front bumper, Side Skirt, Rear bumper (for twin dual tip exhaust), and the exhaust itself...?
Also, does anyone know any shop/site where I can buy authentic AMG kit from other than MB dealers?

$1008 for (2) left and right muffler with single oval tips is a good price. Does the E55 muffler set cost the same?
Also, does that extra rear piece on the valance come with full bumper. Thanks.
BTW, your car looks great.
Muffler Kit, includes (2) mufflers with single oval chrome tip each:
AMGB66036142 ($1008 USD)
Matching Bumper:
AMGB66036147 ($774 USD)
Still waiting for AMG side skirts. Don't have part numbers yet.
Hope this helps
Which one is the front bumper price? the 1008 or 774?
211 490 50 21 MUFFLER
211 490 49 21 MUFFLER
208 492 00 81 SEAL RING
211 492 01 81 SEAL RING
000 490 10 41 CLAMP
Requires adapting flange for larger diameter E55 pipes to mating flange on E500.
The really interesting news is that I actually received the mufflers with the dual oval chrome tips and the matching bumper (cheezy black piece included). When I placed the order, I was told these parts were not available and the single tip mufflers were the only units available. Almost too good to be true!
The muffler kit came with the following:
(2) AMG mufflers with dual oval chrome tips
(2) rubber hanger/bushings
(2) exhaust clamps
The box also contained some paperwork written in German. From what I can tell, it specifically says "for W211/E500".
The part numbers directly off of these mufflers is as follows:
A211 209 490 03 01 (this is the left unit)
A211 209 490 02 02 (this is the right unit)
The hangers/bushings have the following part number:
A203 492 0444
There were no part numbers on the exhaust clamps.
This kit did not include any seal rings or adapter flange. Is this required? Does anyone know the outside diameter (O.D.) of the E500 exhaust pipes?
Also, these mufflers came in at the same price of $1008 for the pair.
PS: the part numbers listed in my previous posting were inventory numbers from Claus Ettensberger Corp. where I actually placed the order. Great people to deal with.
And then I remembered, I need to buy a house.
Maybe later. :sob:
