Sat Radio w211
I want to put sat radio in my 04 e500. The car has navigation and to the left side of the navigation screen it has a button that reads "sat" is the car already set up for sat radio? Or is there something else I need to get in order for this to work? Thanks for any help in advance!

Not sure, but my 05 E55 required a separate antenna to receive the satellite signal. Earlier COMAND systems are only "satellite ready". If you look on eBay for example and see a square-like antenna mounted on the rear deck lid, that's the satellite antenna. Later COMAND systems such as mine have the antenna built-in and all you need to do is sign-up with Sirius XM and activate it. You can buy the Sirius XM equipment at Best Buy and have it installed there too. If you want to save a lot of $$$$ don't ask your dealer to install it!

I had an 04 & mine was shipped prewired for SAT. It required the SAT receiver and the trunk mounted antenna be installed and also the change of the right side trunk liner be changed to allow for the Sat unit to be mounted behind the right rear tail light above the little net on the right side. At the time the cost was $1200.
I believe they were pre wired for SAT because the SAT receivers were months late to be developed/shipped to assembly plant. My car was built as an early '04 in 11/2003, and the SAT radio wasn't available to install untill March 04.

Later on, SAT had to be factory ordered. Your dealer can look up the build of your car & tell you if its prewired.
There are aftermarket people on line who manufacture interfaces for your COMAND head unit to add Sirius-XM with full car integration. I can't think of them right now though.
