Rear Axle Shaft E320 vs E500

Hello, my 03 E500 rear axle shaft on passenger side has a teared in inner boot. I am looking for a susgestion to fix it (reboot it, buy a used axle from junk yard, or new axle from dealer which cost $1000 plus labor).
I found a place that selling a used axle shaft took out from e320 and they states that it will fit e500.
Could someone please confirm if the axle shaft of E320 and E500 are interchangeable or the same part number?
Thank you in advance,
Henry D.

Just my opinion of course having never replaced this part on MB but on other cars.

Buy new parts for this application if you plan to keep the car. This part has high wear loading on the ball/race assembly and will become very lose when worn out. A new one will return you to normal life parts.

It may be possible to replace the boot only if it is available. I have replaced the boots on Eldorados in the past but the boot was available.

Used parts will work but they will not give you full service life but in some applications may be acceptable.

Check locally for a drive line shop rebuild service. There may be a place you can take your shaft to and have repaired. I think this would be a better option if you don't want new and are deciding between used or new.

Thanks Vettdvr for your opinions.
My main question is if the axle shaft that takes out from E320 fits E500? The one I found that took out from E320 has very low mileage (27k) selling for $217 and I like to go with this route but afraid of buying a wrong one. the seller said it fit E500.
Could someone here please confirm if the axle shaft of E320 and E500 are interchangeable and have the same part number?

EPC does not show as interchangeable; e500 – part # 2113501016, e320 – 2113500916 replaced by 2113500556
