Question Have to Replace Rotors Each Time?

I went to a mechanic I normally trust because my 2007 E350 was displaying the "Brakepad Wear" message. He said I needed new breakpads and rotors. When I asked if he could resurface the rotors, he said no because MB's rotors are slightly curved so resurfacing them is really hard if not impossible. Is that true?

He also said you pretty much have to replace the rotors each time you replace the breakpads because the rotors are so thin. Is that true?

I've always been told the same as well. E-Class (Non-AMG) rotors are cheap, so it's not that big of an issue.

If the rotors are still smooth and not scored, I can usually get 2 sets of pads from one set of rotors (OEM Pads of course). However you run the risk of squealing brakes, as most likely the rotors willl not be as smooth as new

Your mechanic is wrong. You do not need to replace the rotors when you replace the pads. Buy a new set of Akebono brake pads and you should be fine for a lot less $$$$.

Same here. My front rotors are origional from new with 102,000 miles and on pad set #3 (factory, dealer installed 1 and I installed 1). Next pad change will include new rotors.

I do however measure rotor thickness to verify it is within spec and has enough thickness to run the entire pad life.

I DON"T TURN THEM and MB DOES NOT RECOMMEND TURNING
