Transmission Leaking

Hello all,
I recently changed out my transmission fluid (pan gasket and filter replaced). I made the mistake by putting too much ATF in the tranny. I drained out about 3.5 qts and put 6qts, since the dealers recommended at service. After that I had a leak at the tranny. So I took some ATF out and measure to the correct level. The leak stop as I was driving in the local streets for a week. Yesterday I took my car on a 100 miles trip and was experiencing a bad ATF leak. There was enough fluid leak hitting the exhaust pipes caused the smoke.
I have searched and learned the the leak is common at the 2 O-rings of thedata connector plug.
I was wondering if there is any where else that the leak maybe coming from before I go underneath the car and order the parts.
Thank you
-Tom

for a 99% it's the connector....I had to change it too.
At the dealership I was told that it is an oil pan and asked for a hunders of $ for repair, then I went to the shop that is specializing in german autos - they changed the connector and I paid much much less.

Connector normally doesn't puke fluid. Assuming you had no leak prior to doing service, i would AssUme you may have pinched the gasket.....

I had my transmission serviced by a dealer and after a month I saw a few drops ,
took it back to the dealer and it was the data plug.
It was $110 to check it out with out it being the transmission service and just $135 to go ahead and fix it so I spent the $25 and let them do it.

Leaking alot does not sound like the data plug.

The data plug was the only thing I didn't change out when I did my own transmission service. I wish I would have though, as it is starting to leak. Just have to find the time to get under my car and do it...

and thank you for all the replies.
MB211 got me thinking. So I decided to to drain out the pan again and change out the gasket all new bolts. The fluid came out a bit over 4qts at the pan which a bit too much. I guess it was the combination of too much ATF and improperly torqued the pan gasket. I also change out the data plug just to be sure. So far so good but I have not make any long trip yet. I will report back once I have.

Just added over 600 miles freeway trip and it seems like everything is back to normal. I guess if I would just put the same amount of ATF back in the transmission and did not have so many beers, none of this would not happen.
