Standard Operating Temp? E350 w/pics

Is this a typical operating temp for an '08 E350? Conditions outside were ~50 degrees this morning and I had been driving in traffic on the freeway for about 15 minutes prior to the photo....just seems a little on the high side, or maybe im just being paranoid.

I have an '08 E350 as well and even in the winter mine seems to run right about the 80 mark or slightly above.

the amg package increases coolant temps.

jkjk thats normal. my e5 runs at the same temp. Warmer engine = more thorough combustion, which results in better fuel econ

I think all of the modern engines run 195 degree stats (or whatever that is in metric) for emission control. I have seen 230 F on my motorcycle and even though it is frightening, so far no engine damage. It is curious. My other two vehicles NEVER waiver once they reach op temp whic leads me to believe they are modulated somehow to prevent the operator from focusing on slight variations. Our M-B will vary 5 degrees during different driving conditions. I miss the old Oil pressure gages like on the 124 cars that came up to full pressure immediately at idle (another lie I think) as opposed to the F-150 I had that was lucky to run 1/2 of the indicated gage pressure flat out. I guess the consensus is, take the operators attention away from miniscule variations. You can always do like my niece and tape a picture of your boyfriend over the temp gage and let the motor seize.

Normal for me in summer, but is is about three lines below that rite now with this damn cold weather. I'm glad you asked this because I could have sworn mine was running hotter this last year than ever, o well.
