Does the cylinder head have to come off?

Does the cylinder head have to come off?
Hi all

I am thinking of purchasing a 2004 E200 Kompressor model with 135000 miles on clock....

I am thinking of fitting a new timing chain kit as a precaution against any problems in the future....

Does the sump and cylinder head have to be removed to perform this operation?
