The other day I went to go start the car around 10pm to go out, it was the cold windy night here in NYC after we had the beautiful 70 degree weather, I started the car and after about 20 seconds of running the engine light started blinking and the engine starting making the car jump. It got rougher within the first minute and then the engine light stayed on constantly.

I drove it around the block and it felt as if the car had lost 50% of it's power. I pull back in the driveway, shut it off for 5 minutes, go back and it was 100% fine as if nothing had ever happened. No light, running smooth and everything.

Now, I notice a tick in the engine at idle while sitting in the car with all the windows closed.

I'm scheduling an appointment with my dealer soon for a squeaky blower motor, malfunctioning sunroof and some other misc things. I am definitely going to have them read the codes stored in the ECU and find out what's going on.

Until then, any suggestions as to what to say or ask? thanks

 

This is the list I've made over the past year since it's last been at the dealer:

Sunroof malfunctioning, squeak in dash (blower motor), headlamp washer flap doesn't close (driver side), broken key, engine idle problem (engine light), engine vibrations (mounts?), road noise, static sound in radio, battery problem, power seat controls

 

Does the squeek in dash come only when the A/C is on, or always/at idle/at load/etc.?

Curious to see what the motor problem is.

 

It's been happening over the winter, when the heat is on low between 2 and 4 and I'm driving on slightly rough and/or uneven surfaces. After a lot of thinking I'm taking an educated guess that the blower motor fan/wheel is loose.

 

Probably just an engine misfire due to moisture on the spark plugs. Happened to me once. It took 3 or 4 restarts of the car for the engine light to go away. Performance returned right after the 2nd restart.

 

Well, took the w211 in today this morning, happily driving a VERY nice Flint Grey W204. Love this car.

Funny thing, driver door speaker BLEW UP while I was driving it to the dealer this morning - the radio was off.

 

Ok on the phone with them now, as far as the wheel/tire insurance, I am paying $37.50 for replacement of 3 tires for a total of $112.50, $16.50 installation and $199 alignment. I'm going to get the fourth tire myself and installed for much cheaper than the $322 they quoted me.

Wow where is everyone? My w211 has turned into a basket case in the past 7 days.
