It just seems so stupid that A) You can't lock your key in the car. B) The key is already in your pocket, and C) Who wouldn't lock their Mercedes?

beeping

And, it also beeps when you get into the car, reminding you not to leave your key. Now that is ridiculous.

Any New Info?

This string stopped over a year ago, and I'm curious if anyone has any more recent information. I also noticed a post in the middle of this string indicating that a fix was coming from MB (but I did not see any updates).

I have to say that I agree with the posts that this "do not forget your key" warning is silly--keyless go won't let you forget your key in the first place, it drowns out other more important warnings and, maybe the oddest part, the warning not to forget your key also sounds when you are getting INTO your car.

Certainly, this minor annoyance is outweighed by the other awesome things about my E55, but I'm curious as to whether anyone has had any recent success getting the beeping turned off, and if so, how they did it. I do know about hitting one of the buttons on the left of the steering wheel, but am wondering about a more long term solution.

Thanks!

rbatr8r, no updates to my knowledge. Every time I go to the dealership for service I ask about their ability to turn off the chime and each time I'm told the same thing...it cannot be done. There MUST be a way to do it, hopefully someone else can shed some light on this for us.

Mallard,

Thanks-I figured. Maybe we'll hear from someone else. If I figure this out elsewhere, I'll be sure to post any solution I find.

...do a search...several people on this board already had their KG chime switched off...

It is a MBUSA special setting and can be switched off easily with stardiagnose by somebody who knows how to operate stardiagnose.
The thing - however - is that when you switch the chime off on a STATION with trunkcloser, the locking button in the trunklid won't work anymore.
On the sedan with or without trunkcloser and on the station without trunkcloser - the KG chime can EASILY be switched off.

greetingz,

Thanks MBenzNL, I'll take a look at that the next time the car is in service. My wife just mentioned that to me last night

I know this is an old thread and I'm sorry, but my e55 is new for me and that beeping DRIVES ME UP A FREAKIN' WALL! (luckily I’ve driven there before and I even have my own parking place). How stupid to have it beep at you every time you enter and leave your car! That's a convenience feature that we paid $800 for?

You guys who are having problems with your
keyless - are your cars 07s?

When was keyless introduced?

On different forums, I’ve noticed that several
complaints have been made against 06s, and
earlier - for different items - but few for 07s.

If my conclusion is right, that’s really a good
thing, saying that MB is on top of things.

No more "Don't Forget Your Key" beeping on the '07s w/ Keyless Go anymore. On YOUR car, you can silence the beeping by pressing the steering wheel button on the left side that scrolls between "folders" on the MFD. I don't recall but it may work when you press any left side steering wheel button after you shut down the car & open the drivers door.

Thanks Barry,
Yeah, you're right. Pressing those buttons will silence the beeping. But I really should not have to do that. My car is an '03. I'm going to stop by the dealer tomorrow and see if they can do something.

As MBenzNL mentioned before, it can be done at a dealer who has a tech who has taken the time to research how to do it. Unfortunately if you can't find that needle in the haystack at your dealer, you're SOL. I remember previous threads on a different forum of someone in Houston got it done.

My dealer, after promising for two days that they had turned it off, called today and said it can not be turned off in an E55, but can in the E500. Man I'm bummed.

So the answer I got today was that it is possible, but they won't do it. This is because it turns off other notification features (possibly such as seatbelt warning and door open?). I guess I can buy that. I'd be willing to let them do it anyway but they say it's a liability for them so will not. Does anyone know somebody in the San Francisco Bay Area that can and WILL do it?

Hmm.... I'm not sure if that's true. Steve aka MBenzNL turned it off for me and I still get all the other normal beeping notifications.

It's probably the answer they're giving you because they can't figure it out.

It's not easy to do because the place where you turn off that notification isn't in the place one would expect it to be.

Just wait for Steve to make another trip to the Bay area and schedule an appointment with him.

Same response that I got from my dealer... "Its a safety thingy"

Well, Steve was out here today. He's a very nice guy. He fixed the Keyless-Go beeping and switched the settings on the COMAND so I can watch DVDs! Pretty sweet! I also noticed a lot of other little things in the switch to the euro COMAND. For example AM is now mW. Also, switching from AM to FM is a two step process. No biggie. The other drawback is that it no longer loads my phonebook from my Motorola Q. However the phone still works great and it now stores it's own numbers which it nevre did before. The voice on the NAV now has a brittish accent which is cool, and now when the NAV talks it turns down the volume of the radio. I really like that feature and it bugged me that it didn't do it before. FM now tells you the name and call letters of teh station and the name of the song that's playing. I love that. All in all it was a great thing to do and I'd highly recommend dealing with Steve.

Dreaded, how do you mean it doesn't download your phonebook yet stores it's own numbers?? How do you enter the #'s??? My phone won't download the phone via bluetooth on my Euro COMAND, so even if I can enter the stuff MANUALLY one time that would be awesome!!!

Yeah, it didn't do that before for me either. Now that it's been updated, when I hit the service button one option there is address book. There you can add phone numbers and addresses for phone and nav. If you don't have it I suspect that it's because it's an older version. See if your dealer will update the software on your COMAND module. It only takes a CD disc to do it and about 10 minutes of time.
