Keyless Go Beeping
Keyless Go Beeping
Is there anyway to stop the beeping when you get out of the car and you have been using keyless go. It says something like "don't forget your key" on the instrument cluster and beeps for a long time with the door open. It is aggravating and a couple of times I have forgotten and left my headlights on because I just thought the beeping was the keyless go warning and not something important.
press one of the buttons on the left of the steering wheel. this will shut the key reminder alarm off. although, i don't know if you can disable just the key alarm all together. i've left my lights on too because of this alarm confusion.
Mine says the same thing and I'm taking it in tomorrow. I'll let you know what they say. You said you are having yours replaced. What exactly are they replacing if you know.
Have you ever found a solution to this (other than pressing the reset button each time)? I was about to post the same question but found this post in a search. It is truly annoying since the key, by design, never leaves my pocket.

Any updates to the "Key Not Recognized" message that appears in Red on the dash board?
It seems to happen when I am using my key, but not the other two in the family. Perhaps my key is low battery?
Would like to hear your remedies to this problem.

I have been complaining about the KeylessGo beeping ever since I bought my car. I have complained to MBUSA (which is useless, although I did it several times in hopes they would log the complaint and do something about it). I have complained to two dealerships and asked them to turn it off, which they cannot do. I have disassembled the speedometer housing in an effort to find the speaker and muffle the noise. I did find the speaker, but could not muffle the sound. I was ready to give up.
BUT, about two weeks ago I was at the dealership having Sirius installed and again complained. My service writer told me that he received notice from MBUSA that a fix for this will be coming soon that will eliminate the beeping. His understanding was that the message in the multi-function display would still show, but the chime would stop. He said it will still chime if the lights are left on or the sunroof is open, etc.
I, too, have left my lights on for several hours at a time because the KeylessGo chime overrides all other warnings. It is absolutely useless. I cannot wait until they fix this. Everything else about the car is fantastic.
Anyone else hear about this supposed fix or have information about when it will be available?

I just went outside and tested it...I turned off the engine and left the lights on in manual mode. Nothing happens until you open the door. First, there is a different sounding chime that beeps only once, then the much louder KeylessGo chime starts and overrides the first chime. The multi-function display shows a warning that the lights are on for about 5 seconds or so. Then it changes to warn you to not forget your key, as it always does. Given that the different sounding chime sounds only once and is not nearly as loud, and the display does not stay constant warning you that the lights are on, it is very easy to not notice the difference and hence leave the lights on. I have done it several times.

When I get out of my car and have left the lights on I immediately hear the light chime vs the keyless one, the light chime is just as loud and stays on plus a message appears in the cluster saying "Lights On"...sorry you are having so many problems with it.

With regard to the overall performance and characteristics of the car (other than the center console armrest), this is my only gripe. WTF were they thinking? It is extremely annoying and ineffective.

There must be a big difference between the CLK500 and E's warning systems, it's odd because the instrument clusters are exactly the same. In the CLK there's no way you miss the headlight warning as I stated above.

In Illinois it is a state law that you have to have your headlights on anytime it is raining. So there are many times I use the regular switch to turn on the headlights. 90% of the time it's in Auto mode. And on mine the damn keyless go chime nearly overrides the headlight chime. Since we can't lock the car if we left the key in it, why do they need to be so persistent about removing it? Enough venting for a Sunday morning!
It amazes me that MB doesn't have the logic in the E-class to prevent all of this. Beyond the annoying beep of the "Don't Forget Your Key" warning, they could just as well have the lights automatically turn off after a preset delay once the engine is off. My Honda Accord did that. And, my Jeep Cherokee had a setting where you could have the lights automatically come on and off with the windshield wipers.
As I have said, I will never figure out what goes on in the mind MB. Their claim to fame is mechanical engineering. But, they have never been able to figure out the little things.

Baby Jocko or anybody else - has anybody found a dealer who can eliminate the keylessgo beep? I just let my wife drive my brand new E55 (gulp!). When she came back from getting her hair done, I asked her what she thought of my new machine.
She - "Why does it beep at me everytime I get out?"
Me - "That's the Keylessgo reminding you to take you key."
She - "It's in my purse. I'm not going to forget it."
Me - "Well, they want to make sure you don't leave your purse in the car and lock the keys inside."
She - "You said you can't lock the door with the key inside. The car knows where the key is."
Me (red faced) - "Oh yeah. I guess that really doesn't make any sense."

I just put my car in for the "first visit" and explicitly asked them to deactivate the Keyless Go warning beep. When I picked it up, the service ticket came back marked "NOT POSSIBLE."
I figured that out. I was just wondering if there were a way to disable it permanently. The more I think about it, the stranger it seems. I lock my car every time I leave, even in my own garage. I'd know right away that my key was still in the car because it wouldn't lock. Why do I need another warning? And if I did leave my key in the car with the doors unlocked, why would it be any different than leaving a conventional key in plain sight? The car would be just as easy to steal.
Not arguing with you
I'm not arguing with you. I think it's a pain too. I asked the dealer if they could disarm it as soon as I got my car and they said no. So I just hit the menu button as soon as I turn the car off.
