Question COMAND "Re-Program" Code

In order to decide if I can install a backup camera on our 20009 E Class wagon I would like to reprogram the COMAND to turn on the backup camera function. Does anyone have the code to do this. I have tried the hangup 1 # code for the C Class but this does not work.

Thanks

Well at least you got almost 18000 years to plan for the work with the 20009 car.

Are you talking about an NTG2.5 Comand or the NTG1 model? Try to search this forum accordingly instead of reading the NTG4 info from the W204 forum.

Thanks for your reply; I bet you have not seen many 20009 E Class Benz on the road in your area (sorry for the typo).

I checked out the other posts here and did find one that would indicate that I have a NTG2.5 as my model year 2009 E350 wagon was built in June of 2008. However, I did not find the secret for accessing the Comand program to turn on the Back Up camera function. HELP!!!!!

We are able to input address into the Nav system while in moton, but Video from a DVD is supressed by a warning notice when the car is put into forward or reverse. I am still not clear as to the need for a VIM module? If the backup camera can be turned on in the Comand I would think there would be seperate inputs for Video and Backup camera or at least by turning on the Backup camera function it would cancel the warning notice while in reverse --I can only hope! Thanks again

I did not check but I believe you can change the NTG2.5 Comand settings to the same that are used in Europe which means you get video in motion but only up to a very slow speed. I would not expect the rear view camera turning off at a higher speed in any case.

I'd suggest you to send a PM to gmatj, he has done all of this retrofitting to his W211 and would be able to answer the connector details for different video signals. I think he has posted this on the forum too but it may not be that easy to find that info.

Question Got The Code - Now What?

Got the code and into the "Engineering" mode. I did not find a place to turn on the backup camera, but I did find an opton called "Driving Restrictions". It was in gray vs white letters. Don't know if this is the Video-In-Motion (VIM) option, and rather or not there is a way to put a check mark by this option -- maybe this might be a dealer option? Anyone have uggestions?
