05 e500 windshield fogging problem?
for some reason when i drive with all the windows up the back windshield and back windows begin to fog BADLY. the only way i can get it to stop is by cracking the windows. even the defogging button does not do much. what could the issue be? its really irritating. please let me know. and no, i am not a heavy mouth breather.

Can you confirm good air flow through the center console rear vent and the door pillar vents to the back? They are wide open?

it's on the left side of the controls - the top half is the max defrost and the bottom half of the switch is the recirculation button. With the recirc turned on, you don't get outside air and you pick up the moisture in the car. But if you are leaving the entire HVAC system turned off, my guess if you are getting air flow into the car from outside - not sure, just guessing???
You can just leave the system set to Auto and manually turn off the A/C if you don't want A/C and you still get fresh air without opening the windows.

I barely have fogged up windows here but when I do, I turn on windshield defrost for 5 seconds, turn it off and it's all done. It's the A/C that turns on and has dry cold air that takes care of it immediately.

My car is a 2008 E350 and I just played with the controls... mine resets the fan, temp and output direction when I hit Auto. For example, if manually set it to the floor, it goes where it thinks it should when I hit auto such as the middle vents.

As intended! It always changes to the middle ones on auto.
