C43 AMG
MPG in E

Hey everyone, I am going to Ocean Shores, WA on Sunday, June 22, 2003. It's about an hour and a half drive from Seattle and Portland. It's an all Euro car meet, and should be fun (hint hint, come!). Anyway, I was wondering what kind of gas mileage you normally get? In town I tend to get about 20, where on the freeway I can expect 24-25. Not bad for a 3600 lb V8 sedan! However, I do in fact have a C43. What do you all normally get? If you aren't sure, try going to OS this June in your AMG if you live in the Pacific Northwest and you will be able to find out!!!!!!!!!!!

Magazines and what not claim 18-22, but I get better... Do you get better than what is claimed for the E-Class?

hehe... the only AMG stuff on my car are the wheels! It does get pretty decent gas mileage though. According to the computer - since I picked it up the avg. mileage has been 20.2

Seems to me that you have to be careful not to confuse imperial gallons with US gallons. I am not sure what the MB counts? Differs per geography perhaps?

Anyway, driving all day to and from Fla recently at around 65-75 mph (as fast as the cops with funny hats would let me) I got 7.6 l / 100 km, which is amazing mileage - twice as many miles per gallon as I get in town.

Does someone want to convert 7.6 l / 100 km to miles per (imperial and US) gallon?

Outstanding performance !

My consumption is abaout 11 l/100 km on motorways at speed ranging from 120 to 160 kph.

In urban heavy trafic 20 l/100 km.

Do you notice a difference depending on the gaz rating (95 or 98 octons) ?

I use the highest octane rating I can find. Usually that is 93 here- but be careful, 93 in North America is equivalent to a higher number (almost 98 I believe) in the UK and Europe. The measurement method is different.

I get thos oustanding results only when driving slowly all day on US highways and on cruise control. Normally I get about 9.5 on highways and 15 in town.

You just read the computer: consumption from departure.

It's one of the screens you scroll through from the steering column pages. I use it as my default--the information is interesting.

I consistently get over 28 MPG in non-rush-hour freeway driving.

I am averaging just under 20 mpg in mostly city and rush-hour traffic highway driving. This is better than I expected from a big V-8 in a car that still has only 2,000 miles on it.
