displaying text w/ bluetooth 05 e500?
hey guys so i got the adapter (the long silver one kinda looks like a surfboard) and it works perfect. only question is there a way to display texts? or receive texts on the screen? thanks.

No - unfortunately the Bluetooth adapter does not relay SMS messages. The only way I am aware of to get SMS to display on the COMAND using MHI is using a phone cradle - specificially the Verizon V710 phone. I have this and it does display incoming SMS messages and beeps on the COMAND when they are received. You can also compose/reply to SMS messages in ECE mode.
Supposedly the hybrid Bluetooth cradles for the RAZR and a few other models will receive SMS messages if using a GSM phone, but I have not been able to test this as all I have are CDMA phones.

There is not much you can do regarding SMS messages from the iPhone. I do believe they make a cradle for it but I am not sure what functionality it provides. I also have an iPhone 4 on VZW and it works well with the Bluetooth adapter, but the Motorola V710 uses the external antenna on the car and has 4-5 bars of service pretty much at all times. Therefore I just pay the $9 extra/mo to have another line on the V710 and use that when I am in the car.
I am almost certain that the iPhone cradle will not do SMS passthrough. The cradle that is supposed to work in the W211 I think was targeted for the Euro market so they are hard to come by in the US. I believe this has changed with the newer models with the phone package.

okay thanks. where do u keep the iphone when you are driving? in your pocket or something? i just dont know where to keep it. also, how do i activate the satellite radio in the e500? thanks bro

I don't use my actual iPhone in the car - I have an HD-based iPod in the glove compartment that stays in there, and I have the Verizon V710 for the phone.
