2006 E320 CDI brake options

I know this has been kicked around a bit but due to the variances of models/years/geography I can't seem to find a good answer. I have a US Model 2006 E320 CDI with vented front/solid rear rotors and need to do a full brake job. I plan on ditching the 16" factory wheels and using 17" wheels in the winter and I have 18" AMG wheels for the summer. For the fun of it I will occasionally autocross the car and I would like better brakes on it.

Can anybody speak from experience on the following::
  1. Are the EBC vented/dimpled rotors a noticeable performance difference (better braking and/or reduced warping from heat)
  2. Is it a noticeable upgrade to go to the larger 12.3" E350/E500 front brakes
    1. Is all I need are Calipers and Rotors?
  3. For the Rears it seems like 11.8" vented rotors are my only option
    1. Is this a simple Rotor/Caliper upgrade?

Would like to know as well. Was told that with the e500 caliper bracket that you can use the cross drilled and vented oe rotors. Would like confirmation if this.

B16GSR, I see from your signature that you have a 2005, if you go to www.rockauto.com and look there seems to be a cutover between the 2005 and 2006 models, some come with vented rear rotors some had solid. It seems that many of the W211 cars with solid rear rotors came with the larger front brakes.

I know on my 2006 they cheaped out o and gave it the smaller fronts and solid rear rotors. My goal is to help disipate the heat if I autocross the car, the serious money goes into the car I drag race so I need to do this without springing for a Brembo setup.

If I can't get confirmation I'm almost tempted to go to Autozone, pick up a caliper and rotor and test fit it.
