CD Glitch

Just started encountering a new problem with the CD player (single player). I previously had problems with the whole stereo (HK system) in terms of shutting down and the audio gateway was replaced...things seemed great for a while.

Over the past month the CD player has started skipping on CD's, including brand new ones fresh from the store. Also, it's started telling me "no CD inserted" when the CD's are spinning away inside...then will start playing after a few minutes...but then skips around a lot, or will start skipping through songs in multi-second intervals. Any ideas on this? Thanks!

Still love the car!

Sounds like dirt got in there somehow. Have it replaced or cleaned - I'd try blowing in air first. Else take to the dealer.

My radio is still malfunctioning. My dealer put in a call to MB Cnada so going on past record, I will be waiting a few days until they call the dealer back... seems to me they should emply a whole lot more service people.

Thanks - I tried cleaning it out...didn't help, of course! The simple things never do. I tried dustbustering it, then the reverse...but still skips. I know I don't keep my CD's in the greatest of shape, but they play fine in my home stereo, and it's pretty sensitive. I'll probably just take it again...I dread the thought!

My radio worked fine after the new gateway...the power cut out and the radio reception was lousy, but after the new gateway -perfect!

Thanks again!

For Pogotango

Pogotango....had similar freeze problems with my audio system (don't have the built-in phone, so can't comment about the phone freeze); service replaced a "gateway" module in the electronics and for the past 3 weeks, it's been solid.

Static in Audio System HK

I have my E320 in the shop as I'm typing this. This is the 2nd time it has been in the shop for "loss of power". The first time there was no static involved and the Audio Gateway was replaced, search my name for the thred for the information on that, this time loss of audio is preceeded by static that becomes louder and louder until the power is removed from the whole system. This is a heat related problem that has been discussed before. My dealor says that have seen about 6 custermers this week and last week with the same problems. There is no fix per my service advisor AND per the Maintence Tech that I deal with there. Below is a copy of one of the latest Star Bullitins regarding this. Due to formatting and scanning the first part is a bit jumbled up. It is dated May 27, 2003.
