Check engine light, responds to filled gas tank.
Hey guys, i really need a w211 expert to help me on this one.
I've got a 270cdi from 2002.
Since a few weeks i've been getting CEL's with the car having almost no power(safety system kicks in).
If i restart the car the cel go's away.
Now here come's the trick, i've noticed that i dont get any cells when the tank is full.
As soon as the tank only has enough diesel left for 150 km, de cels start.
The first one clear's with a restart.
But as the tank's getting more empty they start coming more often.
and eventialy a restart wont even get rid of it.
So what happens i drive the car to the gas station at this point.
Fill it with diesel, and in the next 100m the cel clears it self.
Ive read something about not over filling your gas tank.
I accedently did this a few weeks ago, before i ever saw one of those check engine lights, could this have damaged anything.
btw already used star, and it only whined about one of the injectors.
We ran some further test but no errors.
