This gem parked next to me out in the distance area of the lot. As I approached, I first thought "oh, an identical E-class also values his doors and took advantage of me hugging the curb to also preserve them by parking next to me". As I got closer, I saw the profile of fake exhaust tips, but what appeared to be the real AMG bumper that comes on 07+ sport packages. Seemed odd to me, because I noticed it had 07 LEDs, and the 07+ sport package should have already had dual exhaust tips (mine doesn't have any of those features, it's a bluetec). That's when I realized they were fake quad exhaust tips. Peering through the window, I noticed that the interior was that of a pre-facelift model.

That's when I saw it. The badges had been replaced (crooked) to spell out "E60"! The car had all the markings of either a prefacelift E320 or or E500 (the short chrome on the trunk indicates it was a pre-06 model, and the sport badges/package were only on 320s if I'm not mistaken, as the non 4matic E500's had it by default), but someone had honestly gone out of their way to ghettofy it enough and put model designation numbers on it that never existed. If this had been a conversion to a V12, it would have been done a bit better. Snapped these crappy pics on my way out of the space (traffic was waiting). Anyways, I hope the guy sees these and understands how lame it is to screw up his car like that...

The only people who know or care what those visual cues mean are also the only people who can spot a fake from a million miles away. So you're not impressing the only people who understand what it is, and the rest of the people simply don't care.. I guess I'm just judgmental, but it really irks me to see fakes like this in real life.

And as a bonus, a equally ghetto Donk I saw a few days ago...

No, the numbers weren't aligned properly, so he had created it himself. He went to the trouble to put them on the front fenders too, right next to the "sport" badge.

 

Just one of the many types of plates you can get in Virginia. No idea what the "US 12" represents.

 

US 12 obviously stands for the car owner's 12 meter yacht, one of the few things that can match a Mercedes for expense of upkeep.

 

Especially an E60... I heard that it runs on magic dust...
