Question Cold Tire Pressure

So what do they mean by Cold tire pressure?

If you've driven the car for a while how long should let the tires sit to get an accurate reading for the "cold tire pressure" settings printed on the fuel cap?

Last night I let the tires cool for about 5 minutes at the gas station before I inflated and checked the tire pressure and I hope that is enough. I set the front tires at 33 and the rear tires at 35. Each tire had a different pressure before I checked and inflated the tires so I'm glad I did that...

Oh and I used 78% nitrogen in my tires

Tires should sit for a few hours if checking at a station, do not drive more than a few miles.

Oh. Good to know.. I guess I need to do this all over again now because when I checked the pressure I had driven the car for about 45 minutes. It was about 68 degrees outside FWIW...

Can you recommend a really precise/good quality tire gauge?

If someone can recommend a compressor that has a good quality tire gauge built in, that would be even better!

Awesome! Thanks. I especially like the pass through feature so you don't have to constantly switch back and forth between the gauge and compressor... Just hope they are accurate... Not a brand I know...

Wouldn't it have been nice if Mercedes had an outlet coming out of the Airmatic pump for inflating tires?

78% nitrogen?

Isn't that what the atmosphere normally has?

I was wondering about that also -- maybe he was joking.

When I check the pressure in the tires, I always do it first thing in the morning. I believe this will give me the most accurate pressure reading for the tires has had a chance to fully cool down overnight with the cooler night time temps.

Nope. I used special Earth Air that comes with 78% Nitrogen

Yes, it is a small joke given some of the nitrogen in tire discussions we've had lately!
