Hello All,

This year I decided to install the puck with tail part and works fine with only handsfree. The display still saya phone not installed took to dealer for version coding. They said the car is too old and software cannot be updated to enable the steering wheel or address book functions.

Please help.
Thanks

Go to another dealer/independent shop or find a forum friend from your area who can do it (everyone can do it with proper instructions).

I cannot believe a North American car could not be programmed for this when we have W211 cars from 2002 that have this cluster option.

Welcome to the forum.

Thank you Diesel Benz. I will go to the only other dealer we have in Calgary to see if they can do it.

I had a similar situation with my 05 CDI which was built in April of 04. Mine was pre-wired for the US market to up-sell phones which made it a simple plug in install. After sourcing the puck and installing it myself, the same Insert phone message was displayed. I took it to a dealer to get it "version coded." Per the SA, the version coding was not obvious. They were persistent though and after about an hour an a half of trial and error, the tech succeeded with the puck enabling bluetooth connect from our droid phones. I was told the tech found some notes on this forum as the eventual path to completing the coding Just not sure what was referenced. BTW, I believe these cars have the same CP211 platform.

Part of the issue I think lies not only with "activating" the phone part of the system, but also activating the teleaid function. I seem to recall this being the confusing second step that many shops aren't aware of.

intelligator , Murmann thank you for the insight.
I have been after the dealership earlier and according to them they are waiting for an answer from Mercedes Canada. In the meantime have set up an appointment next week with the other dealership.
I will keep in mind the insight you shared.

Much appreciated
